Otherwise, the Galaxy S10 might be announced in February.

Redmi 2 (1.4 microns, f2.2) had a faster shutter for the same scene, similarly exposed than Redmi Note 4 (1.12 um, f2.0).
I also own a Canon 600D, and it takes way faster pics in dark, even if iso is capped.

Yes, ability to handle higher ISO's without noise also improves.

And reg. the last line, ya, its the truth from my practical experience...

    Why not 12 cameras!?
6 is just not enough for good photography.
Competiton will crush you with 10 cameras next year.

While at it, add at least 4 oled screens, 2 are just not innovative enough today to compete.

And no phone without 16 GB ram is even worth considering in 2019.

            0.04mm more in diagonal.

Tech sites should stop saying pixel size gives better low light shots. No , it gives ability to handle higher ISO easier.
A bigger sensor with 1.2 micron can outperform a smaller sensor with 1.5 micron if both are using same settings.

Very often, they give big sensors to main camera and secondary B&W gets a smaller sensor, which is still OK though....

I would love to have a B&W depth sensor as the 4th camera in my setup.... For background blur, although, I'm not a fan of such tricks.
This way it will do a double duty! :)

Side note, this also just show that these big brand are lacking idea and innovation, so instead they persue the marketing hoax route, more camera, bigger screen, smaller bezel

Forrest, 21 Nov 2018am I the only person on earth who doesn't care about curvy ... moreLemme answer your questions.

                      1. There are few millions but tens of millions, probably from Apple Refugees of old want design over functionality. I was an Apple Refugee and so I somewhat wanted one of them Android flagship jewelbox phones.

                      2. Practical doesn't make much money. It has no eye candy. Being eye candy means more money.

                      3. Business decision. Better to flood out phones (erhem China) than to work with Google to make updates.

                      4. We want more view. More texts to see when we scroll down. I know, it sucks. I can see a bit more info on my 16:9 Nokia 8 than 19:9.

                      5. We were astounded to see concept videos of us using phones via hologram and they're bezeless too. We have to get rid of bezels to reach the future we wanted based from the same pretentious concept videos and art.

                      6. Who cares about them LEDs? Only plebs like you care. To us, it's all skill, feeling vibrations and constantly checking the phone out of our pockets all minute.

                      7. We want more functionality on our cameras. One camera can't be Telephoto, Wide-Angle and Monochrome with Quad Bayer RGBs at the same time. DSLRs don't have that too; Instead, they have swappable lenses. Our phone cameras aren't swappable so it's compensated by adding cameras that has a specific feature. A depth camera is good for the front but when it comes to the back, a Telephoto is perfect enough.

                      8. We live in a society that we take pics with our front camera. With a screen, we can finally perfect and adjust ourselves for the perfect shot we've been yearning. You don't want to be embarrassed with your footages, right?

                      9. Business decision. If we want that thinner than air hologram smartphones of the year 2050, we have to make it minuscule to the point that we're touching through quantum material parts lul.

                      10. Millennial, 30 year old Boomers and Zoomer's eyes suck. All of us got a case of eye problems and we want it big. Big enough to see all the infos (see #4).

I'm glad I wasted my time for you to tell you the reality of the Smartphone business. Have a good day.

Samarth N8 808, 21 Nov 2018GSMArena, do you mean "Special Perception" only, or do you ... moreLOL, do you think using f1.6 or f1.5 is better than a monocbrome?
Monochrome sensor catches 3x more light than a rgb sensor, no matter if rgb has bigger aperture.

Difference between f2.2 and f1.5 on cellphones is smaller than people think.
It is proportional to sensor, amount of light per area unit.
The f1.6 on a phone is not same of f1.6 of FF cameras ( this case can completely defocus background) , some lenses on cameras can be used as f32.

How about working on the software to provide correct white balancce, auto HDR to prevent overexposed selfies, decreased levels of oversharpening, 30% less of noise reduction, higher bitrate videos (at least 50Mbps for 4K30)....

Oh, at least 16MP again.... This 12MP trick to show less noise on small screen is not going to work forever.

am I the only person on earth who doesn't care about curvy designs and rather focuses on functionality ?
Why no manufacturer is making practical phones no more?
why not instead of releasing a phone every other day, release a software update ?
why stretching out the display is so important ?
                                    what's wrong with bezels?
where have bright notification LEDs gone ?
why so many cameras ? one on the back and one on the front is sufficient
why adding a front facing flash ? it's useless and looks awful.
why not add bigger batteries ? (even if it means thicker phones)
what about smaller displays? a few years back a 5.5" was considered a phablet !!!
