RASTAFARE, 30 Nov 2011LOL...why should we debate about the design of any phone?? ... moreI think you'll see that design will be the main battle ground for 2012...

      Specs are now levelling out...
You'll get the phones with 2ghz dual core or whatever, larger memory...
      But ultimately...

Specs-wise - what more do you need than basically the specs of the GS2?

      Very little.

What will start selling handsets is making them as desirable as iphone4...

Especially considering iphone5 will be out next year with a swanky new design no doubt and will make the world bleat with excitement...

If Android manufacturers. continue with their boring grey, plastic rectangles... and continues to focus how 'thin' their phones are or how 'light' - then it'll never achieve the sales of iOS... Sammy and HTC are worst offenders for worst designs (I know, I have a GS2!)

LOL...why should we debate about the design of any phone?? It's obviously so subjective and personal, isn't it? I think what we should comment is about the hardware/software it use, the price according to the specs, and of course, the performance (after it released to public), and compare it to other phone on the same specs or level. Doesn't it seem fair enough, does it?

1650ma battery... Really? Will they ever learn? Not just htc, but most all android phones are so unbelievably week in the battery department. Would it really kill them to produce a phone that won't die after a few hours of heavy use? Example the htc amaze... Good luck getting through a whole day on that pos, same with the lg Optimus lte line up. Such a joke.
Am I the only one who would be willing to have a slightly thicker device (we're talking a mm or two here people) just to make room for a 2000+ma battery that can actually get through a full day of use.
And no, I'm not an android hater at all,mom actually hoping to buy one once I see something I really like, but it can't be denied that this is one area that apple has everyone else thoroughly beaten.

Why isn't anyone producing smaller sized handsets, with screens 3.6" - 4.0", with the same kind of specs as these new phones?!
Battery life and performance of such a handset would be superb.... Instead we have to drag around a 4.3" 'touch pad', which runs out of juice in less than a day..

AnonD-455, 29 Nov 2011So the point is you want HTC to go back to 2008 in design t... moreLOL...

Odd assumption that I want to regress designs, no, I was merely saying that HTC used to make 'unique' designs... My all time favourite design still is the N93i - fabulous... I proudly had one of those, and the rotating swivel S700 (sonye I think it was)...

I'm saying we need NEW unique designs, not old ones! We need phones with character, phones that make you go WOW!

Not rectangular grey slabs that are paper thin...

Although I will agree with you that HTC are releasing too many handsets too - confusing to the customer and all looking the same...

I agree about HTC Hero, it's very unique but for HTC Diamond, it's one of the hardest phone to grip on. Today their phones looks boring because they released too much phone these days, especially the stupid US exclusives that always looks the same.

Nokia built amazing colorful models recently (N9, Lumias and Ashas), looks very original and I think Samsung will copy them one day (they already copied 6300, C6-01 and 7650).

i have to agree with some, this looks no different than my Desire S which happens to be based on an almost two year old Desire which itself is based on the original Nexus. All you have to do is look at the HTC Hero and Legend, incorporating good designs with slick interfaces that work. HTC is becoming the Audi of the smartphone world, like it's smartphone cousin equivalent, it is very hard to distinguish which model is which. You think the A8 looks like a smaller A4, the A1 has the same lights and grille as the A6 and the A7 looks no different to the A5, this is what HTC are following. Then again, not like Samsung are doing much better. I just hope for the samsung GS3 we can get premium build quality from Samsung much like they do for thier 3D TVs which have outstanding build quality.

The Design with HTCs are becoming all too familiar. Its almost like trying to distinguish an iPhone4 from the 4S, although with HTC you can sometimes tell the difference if you study well (like most of us on here).

All I hope for with their next line-ups is good battery life and outstanding design. I like the metallic look, it adds a nice touch to it. But with such high spec in modern day phones these days to be completely frank I couldnt give a flying pancake what my phone looks like, as long as it has top spec and a battery life to last at least 2.5-3days (which is considerably long by todays standards).

Here's an idea... why dont battery manufacturers go back to the drawing board and make smaller batteries capable of out-performing the current market standards - chipset manufacturers have!

Front view is exact copy of Nexus one without the track ball. The grey coloring is also very very old and outdated. HTC seriously needs to redo their entire design from 3 years ago.
