LG changes its mobile division chief once again

It's expected given LG's dismal market performance. Its mobile business continues to bleed to death while customer complaints regarding its flagship phones not being updated (specifically, almost all of unlocked international models) continue to pile up as they were left stagnant by the 2018 LG mobile division management without any major android software updates and even without sufficient security patches. The H990DS international unlocked V20 models for instance, which launched with Android 7.0 Nougat in 2016, are still on Android 7.0 Nougat up to now, in late 2018, more than 2 years later! And the security patch? It's still January 2018 - almost a year without even a single security update! Just horrible software update support - the most horrible in the entire android world because LG actually did it on its flagship phone which launched with a whopping $799 price tag!
The 2018 LG management could certainly have done much better. The HORRIBLE software update support is severely affecting LG's poor aftersales/aftermarket image. Hardware issues (bootloop in the G4, image retention/ghosting in some V20 models, etc.) add further damage to its already besmirched reputation. All those negative stuff ARE happening, while LG's 2018 mobile division continued to push several newer flagship models, while abandoning older ones, and WORSE, crippling newer models with FEWER and LESS features - features which used to be the DEFINING features that kept a user sticking with LG despite its sagging reputation. Gone are the removable batteries, the dual sim + dedicated micro sd card slot (3 slots in all), the IR blaster, etc.
Let's hope LG's new mobile division management for 2019 will do much better because if not, LG mobile will become extinct in years to come. LG could still certainly disrupt the smartphone market if it released a new flagship with removable battery and ALL of the V20's additional features (dual sim + dedicated micro sd; not hybrid slot, IR blaster, etc., plus features the V20 doesn't have: 4K 60fps, waterproofing, bezels free microled screen, under display FPS, etc.)

Some people have to be changed but wouldn't it be easier to just post a questionnaire or voting poll on the main LG website asking people what they want? Especially if they have to pay for it?
Wouldn't it be easier to just hire more developers to make timely software updates or pay the current ones a better wage so they can actually do what they can, fully?
Wouldn't it be easier to just ThinQ outside the box and collaborate with others?

Excellent decision. A lot of companies need to to change or retrench senior management.

Agreed with the comment about improving their marketing. The phones are decent but need improvement in camera quality & need bigger batteries. Other specs are pretty much in line with most other flagships.

Oh, a new chief. Remove the ThinQ (think) and keep the headphone jack. They can keep the notch as it can be a second and third screen for those guys who blacken the horns but keep necessary info as if their flagship is 18:9 with two mini screens.

Everybody can be an armchair CEO, but it doesn't take a genius to notice the crazy things LG's been doing even after the new CEO took over.
-In January 2018, they said that they would launch a new device "only when needed", yet they launched 3 (or 4?) flagship-grade phones in less than 12 months, V30S, V35, G7, V40. What would happen if they decided to launch a new phone not when needed? I can understand that all these models could have been approved long before the new CEO took over, but when you make such a statement, you should be able to back it up with your actions.
-Everybody hated the notch, yet they sent G7 back to the drawing room to do what? To add a notch?
-The first thing a new CEO should do would be to re-introduce the brand to the consumers, yet they did not.
As far as I'm concerned, my next (currently owner of G6 dual) phone will also be an LG (the V40), mainly because of its quad DAC and the useful triple camera setup. But I'd like the brand to have the recognition it deserves, because all LGs after G6 are more or less really good.

someone, 28 Nov 2018Not sure when will they fire their PR and marketing Chiefs ... moreLOL i totally agree. I am a huge LG fan, but they really need to change those responsible for marketing and to hell with those release dates. Got my V30 in december when it was released here... For example, in my country there is not a single LG commercial. Then there is a company from our country that has commercials everywhere. Come on LG.

What they really need it to change their strategy they unveil phones and launch them almost 2 months later, prices are as high as top brands, camera quality is not on par with competition (V40 excluded) their phones are pretty much average with high prices even Huawei Mate 20 Pro which is priced close to Xs Max seems like a better phone for price, in past LG used to offer great phones for right prices but now its just insanely expensive even Samsung phones are cheaper and dont even ask about mid rangers it seems like is LG wants that segment to die a slow and painful death they charge almost $400 for SD 450 and Marketing is a word that LG is unfamiliar with if they price right launch right and market right they can atleast gain some profit

Not sure when will they fire their PR and marketing Chiefs ... its been long pending. Worst launch timings and poor marketing has been their main problems not the device itself lately.
