Chinese people are so poor its no wonder they did this.
Even if a hunsbands are jailed for some time the family have a lot money to live from.
So if we look at it from other side its not that bad.

SpiritWolf, 29 Nov 2018It's definitely not a secret that Sony XZ3 has best display... moreMan its no secret that Sony dont have best display in phone industry.
I can confirm and guarantee you that
Type: IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
    Size: 5.72 inches, 90.2 cm2 (~72.0% screen-to-body ratio)
    Resolution: 1440 x 2560 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~513 ppi density)
With a 120 Hz refresh rate made for a razer brand are zilion times better.
With over 652 nits they are also most brightest you can buy.
Sony just cant compete to this.
Oled, Poled, Amoled etc cant compete. It leaves imprints burns which will soon or later become visible and always on. Thats the major downgrade of amoled thus LCD is always a lot better and cheaper option.

AnonF-85937, 29 Nov 2018XZ3 does not have the best display and Nokia 808 definitely... moreThe 808 had the brightest display for years. Low-res, due to Symbian resolution constraints, but that was a hell of a screen.

                Hmmm......................................
I wonder what was the reason????

                  Welcome to China Samsung.

The main issue is that most consumers only pay lip service to this. Like Americans complaining about Chinese taking their jobs, then flood Walmart in search of cheap Chinese merchandise.

I, on the other hand, would vote with my wallet.

And anyways, when you get a contractor to build stuff following blueprints, there's a contract that specifies the blueprints are confidential, can't be reproduced, exclusive licence, NDAs....

SpiritWolf, 29 Nov 2018Sure thing. Probably that's why they couldn't beat Nokia 80... moreNever seen a 808 PureView but by the looks of it, it was an era ahead of its time. Happily, parents were protected.

Also it's hard to legally surpass a technology when the patent blocks it. If there's a crucial element in the patent, you simply can't go forward with a new tech without a huge detour. That's how Qualcomm still makes $$$$$ with their modem and networking patents.

Koreans and Japanese do hard for new invention.

Hopefully Samsung may sort out these problems.
