Anyways, the point I wanted to make is this. Yes there is an issue with the battery and until battery manufacturers make a longer lasting battery, we will suffer with insufficient battery units.

However, there are many applications on the Android marketplace that are designed to help you save your battery life. I have a SGS2 running gingerbread at the moment (rooted) and I run 3 applications on the phone at all times. 3G watchdog, Advanced Task Manager and Battery Defender. The latter of these applications is specifically designed to alleviate battery usage. I went from getting 1/2 a day, to almost 2 days of bettery by using this app alone.

I recently wrote a report for work project on these applications, and they proved to make significant in-roads into the length of my battery's life.

I also ended with the phrase "A smart phone is only as smart as it's user". considering that 75% of smart phone issues are user related ;)
