Lol what a illogical post this has been. Why would company delay android 9 update for getting a new phone and that only for one month delay. The company who do such thing can either make the phone slow or drain battery so people say now its old we need to buy new phone which recently big companies have already done. But why hmd will do such things only to get new phone there should be some common sense people first checks some review of the phone then they attempt to buy. If hmd willing to do then either they don't announce the android 9 deadline which is Nov for Nokia 8 and completely stop updating the phone and force users to buy new phone.
Main reason is the Nokia 8 have hardware navigation buttons and they are not android one too and they also need to improve their camera app for Nokia 8 and give better user experience as Nokia 8 have already suffered due to their camera software which doesn't fully use the camera hardware since google camera port is far better than their default camera app.

[deleted post]And first phones they make is for China market and then India. After that you get global bands added to the phones. Same like every China and India phone makers.
I dont know but i remember that old Nokia when new model come out it was for everywhere.
At least i didnt need to wait half a year when the model will get my needed bands and be sold in here. Adding a brand logo on a device dont virtually make the phone indestructible and quality queen or something. All the fans here try to say it's so.

So many people saying they've yet to receive Pie on their 7 Plus. Weird. I got it on mine over a month ago.

If there are users here who have been patient especially in regards to the talk of delays, they are the Nokia 2 owners. This may have nothing to do with Nokia 8 but Nokia/HMD is impulsive in making promises and sweet talks that are hard for them to make real.

What to expect from HMD/Nokia if they did not/can not or not yet making a Nokia cellphone by themselves in their own country.
They still need help from a chinese company to make a cellphone with "Nokia" logo on it.

On Nokia’s side: these early models are not part of Android One program, so it is understandable if there are things that need more testing or whatnot to ensure bug free release.
On consumer side: delaying updates to allow new handsets to sell makes sense, and it is what all Android OEMs have been doing since day 1. They make money by selling new phones, not upgrading old ones. It is obvious and only blind fanboy would ignore that. Obviously Nokia would deny it.
Nonetheless, Nokia is still my recommended brand for those allergic to Chinese brands.

GSMArena are seeming to suppress free speech. A while ago I mentioned in a comment that in every Nokia thread here, there are ignorant people who always say that HMD are Chinese... Nice...
About HMD`s situation, Sarvikas needs to go. Absolutely incompetent and big failure that this year HMD has yet not released a flagship.

HMD direction seems really sad to hear, considering the old Nokia. HMD will trash Nokia's name further. Loosing any respect I had for HMD trying to revive Nokia.

its obvious, they will delay until the 8.1 releases to select markets in-tune with the Pie update release

"so we’ve reached out to Nokia to clear the air."
Why bother - they'll obviously deny it.
And if it's true, what about Sirocco?

Andy, 08 Dec 2018It would be a logical move by them as they know the Nokia 8... moreEven if the 8.1 had 845 and 8GB RAM and gave you bjs, it would still make more sense for them to launch Pie on 8.1 first and then on the 8. What the people want isn't as important as making money. And it's not just about Nokia or bcz they're a "Chinese" company. Any sane businessman would do the same. People don't care as much about a (slightly) off-schedule update as they care about a new phone.

I wonder how big the software/update teams are at phone manufacturers. Seems like alot of companies focus on cutting costs and delivering cheap phones with not alot of time for software/update teams for ongoing support. I wonder is this something that they contract out?
