Looks nice. Glad its flat. FP sensor placement seems a bit high.
I hope they go the Apple way and put the same SD 855 in it as the other two more expensive S10s. Probably it will be on 4GB ram and 64 storage. Same cameras from S9+ which if they fix the overexposure and add in some Nighsight variation of their own it will be almost a perfect phone.
The other S10s will probably have UnderScreen FPS, curved screen and probably a 3rd wide camera. The big S10 will get 2 selfie cameras or some sort of 3d face unlock.
Shame I have to pick a phone this month.

nik.007, 08 Dec 2018Unlike some other brand's "budget" device, I am sure this "... moreOne would hope, but their historical GS 'lite' models (ex. Galaxy S3 & S4 minis) have been S phones in name only - lower end SoCs, cameras, etc..

If this has the same internals as the curved models, then it'll likely be successful. A lot of Samsung users don't like the curved display and have been asking for flat ones, so this will be appealing to them.
If however this has mid-range hardware along with the flat display, then very few will be interested in it.

Unlike some other brand's "budget" device, I am sure this "budget" S10 is gonna have a sane price tag which would actually feel like "budget" without compromising basics such as Amoled, high res display, build, etc.

Lyndino, 08 Dec 2018I just don't think the same. I got my S8 and was in love wi... morethank god we are all differents, if we all like the same things we had only 1 brand of everything. I'm an app developer, so I deal with different phones all day. The ones I like less are the Samsungs...they old pretty bad. The new ones are better but well..they are new..so only time will tell if they will old bad or not. I hate curved corners...worst invention ever....15% of the screen useless, and the reflection makes me sick. The software is bad implemented and i usually take more time to do same on a samsung device than a nexus device, or sony, or htc. Some times I make 50 builds in a day and install more apps than that to test them, and I hate when I pick a samsung to do that...it's fair to say are old models with older versions of android, but still the other devices we have with same android version are much better implemented. Samsung devices are not in my top 5 list of any device. I guess they are changing the software fot samsung 10, lets hope for the better and if they make a flat version i will consider, till then, I've an HTC 10 and u11, both are like new. Htc lost me on update, as a software developer i like to check what new stuffs google team made for us..i don't like to wait an year to get them (spoiled on nexus devices we have i guess). My next phone will be pixel, iphone, sony, and maybe one plus or xiaomi. In this order of thinking and that only because they provide good software support. I don't plan to buy a phone for the next 3 years so the next needs to last that.
The good part is we are all different so what's good for me its not good for you..its all good :)

I certainly wouldn't mind a budget one - but budget to Samsung is different to what I think budget is - it will still be very expensive. Plus isn't this what the A line is for? Or is that also getting cheaper with the non-amoled screen?

Who cares what the back looks like. 99% of people will put a case on it anyway.
I like it. About time they start making real phones again instead of art statements.

Please no notch, no hole, no infinite v, o, edge or whatever, just don't mess with the screen at all and it's the perfect smartphone.

Lyndino, 08 Dec 2018Pretty cool Samsung, good way to TRY and appease all custom... moreI agree. Why would they release a crippled budget S model - other than a cheaper to produce (and preferable to me) flat screen? It cheapens the line. And isn't that what the A models are for? The side-mount FPS will probably be good, but why shortchange those of us who prefer flat? All else being equal, I would actually pay more for flat than curved. And top of the line camera only in the huge form factor? Lame. The smaller form factor & flat screen is why I'm still using my excellent rooted Exynos S7. Hopefully the flat S10 will have at least 6GB RAM & at least 128GB storage, but a 256GB or 512GB version would be fantastic.

Is that a IR Port on top of the phone??
That would be really interesting, if they introduce it back ....
And it also keeps the JacK!

> One UI : a new UI that optimized for big and long remot- i mean, phones.
> "Could you please place that side-mounted fingerprint for a little bit lower? it's way too high."
Anyway, it's a nice choice to switch to side mounted fp, though.

What I'm saying is, the promise of updates and bug fixes in the future have no sway on my purchase at that time. I know Samsung releases amazing devices out of the box and continue to be awesome for years to come as in my experiences. Same with Sony, not so much the HTC I had.

Lyndino, 08 Dec 2018Why buy a phone just to look forward to modding it because ... moreit's more 1/2 or 1/3 if you compare to iPhones, and some people like modding themselfs.
one plus 6T or xiaomi mi 8 is about 8/10 of an iphone or samsung s9. If you dont like curved screens like me its about 12/10. poco f1 is to bad to compare to any flagship...only good on paper. if you get one for 1/2 of the money its a pretty good deal. if you want the top of the chain to get 5% better photos please go for a pixel phone, htc, samsung, or iphone. If you like upgrades, iphone/pixel. if you just need a phone for social media apps...xiaomi mi a1/a2 is the way to go.

That's like spending 2/3 the price of a base model car only to do your own upgrades to keep cost down.
