Had some hilarious conversations with shop staff. "big difference in screen quality, look the xl is yellow", "er, possibly because of the light from the display desk". Me:"unlikely, as the devices are on the same display desk", them:"er, maybe...". Me:"not maybe, definitely, look at the screen when the bubbles appear", them:"oh year, never noticed that before".

The Pixels are not competing against Samsung, LG, Nokia, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Huawei.
Google/Pixel is only focusing on iPhones. So if you compare a Pixel phone ONLY to an iPhone (without any other devices around), they seem good. However, we do not live in a vacuum. And those other alternatives, they exist, and really do make the Pixels seem like a stupid choice.
Besides, its not quite correct to compare an Android device to iOS, since it is possible that the iPhone could be better VALUE than Android devices if the individual has invested in that ecosystem. The question should be, why hasn't the other corporations been able to successfully carve out an ecosystem like the Apple one?

If they had chucked in a 3750mA battery, had a headphone jack and 6GB of RAM, they would be better value. They simply are not flagship spec as they are. And the prices are horrendous. Then you have the Bluetooth connection issues that persist, as does the yellowing on the 3 XL screen. Just go look at the demo units in stores. The 3 is bright white, the 3xl is yellow white.

Great screen, loud speakers, great camera except ff cam, great build and design, great connectivity, great battery life, great RAM management, great performance and many more. The Pixel has got more compromises and weaknesses here and there but it destroys the Mate in camera department and UI itself. EMUI is really ugly.

Even with that discout they're too expensive for what you get. A better headline would be "Now's another time to not buy a Pixel."
