AT&T will turn on its 5G network this Friday

18 December 2018
The network will go live in 12 cities, but AT&T is only talking to businesses now for a trial period. The first 5G data plan sounds pretty pricey.

AnonD-558092, 18 Dec 2018If that were true, you'd already be dead because of all you... moreIf only radiation killed. It is bad for us does not directly means it will kill us. There are other problems all related to brain. Do some research, the guy is right.

AnonD-558092, 18 Dec 2018Yay! We are already in crappy naming! With networks in CAN ... moreHSPA+ is actually 3.5G. UMTS is 3G.

      15GB for $70 a month !!!! for a hotspot..

on 5G that amount of data can be used in a few minutes.

15 GB for a month on 5G network? Where speeds can reach upto Gbps? Also pricing seems crazily high, compared to 4G speeds.. (For comparison, here in India, we pay 1.8$ a month for 30GB 4G on phones. Broadbands are even cheaper. And hopefully the pricing doesn't differ hugely around the world.)

5G is going to fix mobile networks. High density areas will have mmWave networks for higher capacity and bandwidth in a smaller area. Rural and more sparsely populated areas will have broader coverage. That's win-win.

Does the world really need 5G ? I've heard a lot, that it pollutes the air with radiation, and it's harmful for us.

Yay! We are already in crappy naming! With networks in CAN calling HSPA+ "4G" and actual 4G is called "LTE", and then you have LTE+ instead of LTE-Advanced! Is it that hard to call stuff how it's supposed to be? HSPA+ is 3G. LTE is LTE. LTE-A is LTE-A (and not 5G Evo like ATT says!). 5G is 5G!
