Best Phones of 2018: the winners

24 December 2018
There can only be one Best Flagship of 2018, it's time to decide. Same for the mid-range and entry-level categories.

Sort by:

It doesn't make sense to add Pocophone F1 in the flagship category. Its price is 1/3rd of Note 9.

Without a review Nokia 8.1 is winner in mid range. Ironically its costlier than Pocophone F1. I don't understand why Poco F1 is not in mid range. Looks like GSMArena wants Poco F1 to lose the battle. Biased categorization.

I am sure Nokia 8.1 will not even cross half of Poco F1 sales.

I vote for note 9 and nokia 8.1
But i pefer zenphone mx pro m1 over redmi
As a family of redmi user, redmi note 3, two redmi note 4, redmi 5a,
We will not buy redmi for the next phone, they are made to last one year and at most 2 years, biluild quality is meh
There will be people who says they use 4 years etc etc, no need to argue with me, this is based on my experience

MSH, 24 Dec 2018I cant understand how Nokia 8.1 priced 400 Euro comparable ... moreIt's BEST phone on each price bracket, not BEST VALUE phone. Although putting 190 euro phones on midrange bracket is questionable. If only gsmarena put a definitive price range for each bracket ie.
      Entry level < $100
      Low end >$100 - $300
      Mid range > $300 - $600
      High end > $600 - $1000
      PREMIUM > $1000

Also, Read the darn FINE PRINT, oh wait

MSH, 24 Dec 2018I cant understand how Nokia 8.1 priced 400 Euro comparable ... moreNah.. I don't think that low price phone means getting high point in this competition.

Well on paper Mi A2 is a solid performer. It's battery is its Achilles heel hence it has been heavily discounted within a short time of its launch in India. It does offer QC 4.0 in India. I hope it doesn't have adverts like other Mi phones.

Nokia X7 is a stellar value in China but there's a hefty premium to be paid outside China. It will be pitted against previous years flagship in many countries looking at the price. Not a smart buy for those outside China.

U need to categories with the price range....where is honor 8x, OnePlus 6t...

I agree with the winners... not so much with the runner-ups.

Although it's ridiculous the ASUS RoG Phone didn't win first place. It's the most underrated phone of Q4 2018.

PS The Nokia 8.1 (aka 7 Plus successor) hasn't been released, tested, and reviewed. So not quite fair to praise it prematurely.
