Got it in India yesterday. Apparently, it was seeding since 25th of December, but I only received it after manually checking for the update.

SpiritWolf, 26 Dec 2018Both are late. My XZ3 is rocking Pie for 2 months.Sony only changed notification shade, build number and android version whereas samsung did complete UI overhaul in pie. You can never compare sony with samsung. Enjoy boring jellybean UI on your XZ3, mate.

It's good that big companies are providing faster Android OS updates each year. Samsung was extremely slow at providing new OS version, but now they're catching up. And it's Samsung so it will be still mostly bug-free unlike what you get on Pixel phones..
