"You can see that by their clever slides that avoid as much as possible to talk about adaptive sync, so much so that some people here are confused about what this means, since Nvidia cleverly submitted the whole adaptive sync panels tested initiative under their own marketing brand and calls them "G-Sync Compatible" instead of saying that they now have built-in software support for VESA Adaptive Sync panels, with 12 specific monitors having the VRR feature turned on by default because they pass a sort of G-Sync-like baseline battery of quality tests. And at the same time they introduce a higher tier of G-Sync (G-Sync Ultimate), to keep the premium feel of the brand as much intact as possible and make the new G-Sync Compatible tier (aka VESA Adaptive Sync) seem as baseline as it gets, and to drive the point home even more, they let everyone know that only a few Adaptive Sync monitors (12 out of 400) pass the test. Nvidia thus portrays itself not as a company admitting defeat but as a company that is moving even more forward, while making some standards compliance concessions. Clever marketing."

Jaeger, 07 Jan 2019Ray tracing allows to show more realistic lighting effects ... moreBut that doesn't really grant any competitive advantage

Jaeger, 07 Jan 2019Ray tracing allows to show more realistic lighting effects ... moreAnd It can be done via software, it's included in DX12 specifications iirc, means any gpu support DX12 technically can do it, with enough optimization. nvidia attempt to make things that can't be done via Cpu (flashback physicX proprietary vs open havoxFX and become open sources)

Jaeger, 07 Jan 2019For a card 60% more powerful than the GTX 1060, I think is ... more"It's a poor value card. Too expensive for mainstream and it doesn't make up for it in any regard. Too little RTX power makes you have to use DLC AA (aka DLSS) to render at a lower resolution to make it workable. Good thing too, because 6 GB of VRAM in 2019 for 1070 Ti tier performance is a no-go for higher res gaming. You're getting less VRAM than what a 1070 has."

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2019Gehh, $349 for x60 card. No wonder NVDA stock plummetin... moreFor a card 60% more powerful than the GTX 1060, I think is a reasonable price. But I'm sure AMD will deliver something comparable and probably cheaper.

Walter C. Dornez, 07 Jan 2019What's the point of that?Ray tracing allows to show more realistic lighting effects on games: shadows, water reflections, among other things, will benefit from ray tracing.

CristianEW, 07 Jan 2019I will surely get one if the rumored performance and price ... moreAgreed. I want a good reason to make a PC, and that Navi will probably be it
