alcatel 1x (2019) hands-on

08 January 2019
The new phone arrives with a larger, sharper screen and a dual camera, but sticks to its budget phone roots.

definitely an improvement over the previous model. The good thing is that the MediaTek SoC remains!

I bought 2 alcatel the last few years its a big waste of money! Don't even think about spending money on this company. Better buy xiaomi or other affordable smartphones.

haha, 08 Jan 2019Well, actually, this phone looks with quite ok body size.5.8 inch screen with notch size is basically same like this one has. So it's not a pocket friendly with it's 5.5inch screen with large bezels

I wish there was an Alcatel 1c dimensions phone with FLAGSHIP specs. (and I know there's the Sony XPeria XZ2 compact. nope. no hfj= no buy)

Anonymous, 09 Jan 2019You mentioned somewhere that LG K8 2016 is stuck on Marshma... moreActually, the K8 2016 is not upgradeable to Nougat. The version of the K8 that is upgradeable is the K8 V-Verizon's version of the K8. It's really frustrating that Verizon can push Nougat to the K8 V, which is just the regular 2016 K8 and LG can't. Seriously, they are nonexistant with software updates. Even their flagships are stuck on Android Oreo when Pie has already been released. There are so many better alternatives to LG's crap phones like Nokia or Sony phones.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2019Or you know, get a Xiaomi Redmi 6/A...Took a look at it, and it blows my phone away in terms of the spec sheet. Twice the RAM, 2 to 4 times the inernal storage, Android Oreo, better materials, screen and cameras-all for LESS than what I paid for my LG K8 in 2016.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2019Especially when you can get a LG G6 for just a little over $200.See, the G6 in my country is like 3 times more expensive than in the US, so outside of my budget. That , and LG is HORRENDOUS with software updates; their budget devices NEVER get updated AT ALL. At best, you'd probably get like 3 security patches and that's that. Also they use 2010 tech in their phones like a 32GB microSD card reader IN 2018! Low storage space, terrible software, cheap build materials and outdated tech-LG has it all. I could get a Sony or Nokia phone for the same price as a low-end LG phone with much better build quality, software and ACTUAL software updates.
