Boots are not alternative to shoes, regardless of the brand.
Same here, in ear-channel inserts arent real alternative to airpod like headphones.

design is copied yes (which is basically having the little thing hanging with the antenna)
everything else is not copied. its not like the tech was invented by apple either.
its really just design as in HOW IT LOOKS that is copied. is that unethical? yeah sort of, though if its the best design id rather everyone use it. its like saying only apple is allowed to use the white color, on a different scale

That's one reason why the Chinese smartphones are cheap and the Japanese and western phones are costly because they are innovating and using so much money on R&D. If you keep purchasing a cheap copy of a product. The one who's really innovating will stop on doing it. Then we will feel the technological trend will slow down.

I don't see the point of having the tubes there. I mean, it is one of the worst parts when looking at Apple product. If you look at normal headphones, minus the cable. If I want to wear wireless, I want it to look wireless.

Look, I dislike Apple as much as you, but even you can agree with this that this is not healthy for business. These Chinese companies are taking the easy route, they don't pay for R&D. They can sell their products dirt cheap. This trend may discourage other companies from investing in R&D (this makes their product costlier). It may hamper the "real innovation" (not the different types of notches or adding a slider to make it look cool).
PS - I'm currently using Xiaomi Redmi 3S prime. I'm a cheap guy, I use cheap phones and I would've to thank Xiaomi for that. But before a consumer, I'm a tech nerd. I dislike Xiaomi for being a cheap knockoff brand.

If a product can be made in affordable price then why not the customers benefit from it, instead of charging huge amounts (As apple does).
Does Apple not copy the dual camera setup which was introduce by other companies and now the next generation is going to copy huawei mate 20 pro three camera design, Samsung does not copy that much but its product is also not very affordable..
