Shanti Dope, 09 Jan 2019Nobody will disagree that Pocophone is a fantastic value fo... moreMan i would agree but about the Hardware Poco have all its needs to have and dont have anything which is called add-on, or useless garbage good for being burden for a phone.
Well questions are:
How many people global will need or use IP certification and are willing to pay extra money for it?

How many people are willing to use and pay for super amoled display compared to much cheaper LCD from Pocophone?

How many people would like to have and willing to pay lets say 200 or 300 more bucks for a bit better camera (because to be honest print poco image on A4 and compare it with printed image from any other flagship Sony Samsung etc it will be mess both). As we know after several software updates apart from OIS Poco camera isnt lack of anything else.

How many people would like to pay much more buck for a lot more disk space like 512GB or 1TB when for most people 64 or 128GB is much more than enough i can understand that teenagers who hear music 24/365 needs 1TB but thats 0,02% of global population for most adults of age 30+ the 64GB variant will be more than enough? For anything else memory stick is good to go.

How many people are willign to pay for S-Pen or any other gadget included in phone for much more money?

How many people would like to pay for extra apps and UI which companies like Samsung offers, for Bixby, and many else?

I can continue forewer.
To be honest maybe 0,0001% of global population will mark X on all add-ons and really uses them in real life frequently. Not just tray them and i had enough. Real users will not toss S-Pen from Note9 when they need just to make a simple call or reply to a message something likeI call you back in 5 minutes or to lift a call.

Thus to my answer.

KCostas, 09 Jan 2019To release the phone earlier. All manufacturers do this.Maybe I'm blind by my love of my phone but what upgrades did the Galaxy S8 receive after it's release, other than UI update?

Or how many fixes will come way after the phone is released and customers will claim amazing support and updates when in actuality it should have been there from the start. And I'm not talking about UI updates.

But to consider the proper premium brands to be garbage, only because of them being more expensive is utter gibberish.
They are more expensive for a reason. Primarily, how many people know about them. Pocophone is popular only for all tech geeks around the world. Here in my region, for instance, there's about 5 to 7 Xiaomi phones being sold here, and they're not the flagships. Galaxy Note 9, on the other hand, can be found in almost every local store available here. Sony isn't doing well right now, but we know their situation so let's disregard them on this area.
Another is, how long will the phones last. Samsung and Sony phones are both made of premium high quality materials that were made to last a lifetime. They are IP68 water sealed, have little to no hardware failures, and would be treated by their respective manufacturers as proper flagships in terms of software. Not to mention, how good is the aftersale service, because both companies are pretty well-known for dealing greatly to the failures of their own products.
Most importantly is, how many innovative features do the phones have. Both Samsung and Sony phones pack the best of everything they could offer in their arsenal. Each and every single aspect of their phones is a worthy contender for the top position among the global competition of flagships.
I doubt the Pocophone's display, audio, camera, and battery life would be able to go on top of the competition.

Now there will be this counter argument that the Pocophone is good enough for most users, but that's basically why you're paying mors for Samsung, Sony, and many other premium flagship offerings. If you are fine to having essentially what you need but not expecting it to be best at many things, then the Pocophone indeed is a great choice and an easy recommendation, but those who are in for the best possible hardware available during the time of purchasing a new phone, they (Samsung, Sony, and every other premium flagship manufacturer) are all better at this.

KCostas, 09 Jan 2019Even if you just simply consume your media on a 4K display ... moreOkay, I can tell a difference between 30fps and 60fps, but 1080p and 4K are virtually indistinguishable to me. Sure, 4K gives extra flexibility of cropping the footage and still retain most of the details compared to 1080p, but for any non-professional use of videos, even 720p is fine to most people.
If anything, 720p and 1080p save much more space and causes less heat for the phone. What a camera needs is to have a great sensor, optics, image parameters, and software processing to achieve a really excellent video quality. Resolution would just be an added bonus of flexibility, but nothing too major that it becomes a necessity.

When you compare your Pocophone to your DSLR, trust me when I tell you that the 4K 60fps footage of your Poco will be blown away by your DSLR's 1080p footage. Your DSLR video can still be edited and achieve superb results, as well as it has a superior image stabilization (hardware vs software stabilization, not even a comparison). The better sensor and optics will tell a huge difference between them.
Your Pocophone F1 will be good enough for casual usage, but for overall quality, your DSLR with the proper equipments will defeat any smartphone camera.

AnonD-454049, 09 Jan 2019Why do you believe it's a hardware issue? This has been extensively discussed on Mi's forums.
While the older Mi phones, like Redmi Note 3 and others had dedicated DAC chip for good audio, the newer ones have stopped coming with it, including Poco, for cost-cutting or whatever. So, they rely on inbuilt audio.

See Poco's audio quality. Its not loud enough, some distortion creeps in, stereo isn't that good.

This 'inbuilt' audio is good for some chipsets, like Snapdragon 625 has good audio, its not the same for many others, like Snapdragon 660, 845, etc..

I am not comparing DSLR 1080p quality (mine is still on 30 fps) with Poco's one, I am curious how Poco's 4K 60 fps will compare to DSLR's 1080p in terms of sharpness, tracking focus, etc. In many scenarios I am using my phone to capture required footage for my job and it all depends on the current subject, lighting and many more.

KCostas, 09 Jan 2019"...slow motion video sucks on my device, plus no audio rec... moreI mean, many phones that I've tried are also capable of recording slow audio to go well with the slow motion video, and I don't think the SD625 is incapable of doing it.
Also, many phones that I know could take clear 60fps videos, and they don't drop the light and color levels to the extremes.
My Redmi 5 Plus literally switches from well-saturated to near monochrome footage, and yes, it's just two times faster shutter speed.
I can tell that Xiaomi lied to us with their 1.22um pixel size 12MP sensor on the Redmi 5 Plus, since the iPhone 6s with a pretty similar camera hardware could take much better pics and vids.
Funny that this sensor never really goes below ISO 100 even with the sunlight directly hitting the sensor, as if it's already the base sensitivity. It's fine to me, if only it meant a highly detailed image, which it really doesn't tbh. In low light, well, let's just forget about it. You're just pretty much capturing a black picture, just with added noise and lower quality due to a cheap sensor, which isn't as good as expected according to hardware specifications.
For best value, Xiaomi is a good choice, but for cameras, they're easily out of the topic.

The Poco might take some incredible 4K 60fps footages, but as far as overall image quality goes, proper digital cameras are still ahead of any smartphone.
My Canon EOS M50 with prime lens, which is most probably inferior to your DSLR, still takes better pictures and videos than most smartphone cameras I've ever tried, including the major flagships of 2018.

The video getting dimmer is a result of higher shutter speed at higher frame rates. You should have a faster lens to gather more light.
