No, it was Kodak who firstly showed the self glowing diode device(OLED) to the world back in 1980. In fact, many universities were involved and its origin can be tracked back to 1950 in the French university.

Have you heard there are two schemes of OLED. PMOLED AND AMOLED? I bet you haven't. Both of them are REAL techs and AMOLED has more advantages over PMOLED, but the cost of production is EXPENSIVE. So you should be thankful to Samsung that they mass-manufacture AMOLED, because others don't.
It wasn't invented by either Samsung or Sony, but contributed by many universities and companies(mostly Sammy, since they hold the most of patents).
(AM)OLED has own pros and cons comparing to LCD. No, I'm not gonna be ignorant or a liar like you. However, it was IMPROVED and better thaa the original OLED. Especially when it comes to the battery.
When it turns off, it consumes less juice. when it's on other way around. Look at the reviews that confirm that Samsung high-end phones last longer than most of phones.
Nokia, Moto...they use Sammy Amoled as well. S-LCD? It's Sammy anyway.
Face it Sony fanboy, Sony is not a king in the display industry in nowdays. Even comparing to own Japanese companies. Sony recently forecasts that TV division will lose money for an eighth straight year.
That's a reality.

this is the fact that OLED technology was invented by Sony, it doesn't matter who manufactures it. even if it's crappy sammy they have to license it from Sony.
Reason why Sony Ericsson doesn't use AMOLED or Super AMOLED which is nothing but OLED with some enhancements and marketting gimmick is because it has it's own flaws like high battery current consumption and it was sony ericsson and not Sony, but now it will be Sony
