it looks tall indeed, on computer screens and images, you need to see the phone in real and hold it so you can see true dimensions, and how it will fit comfortably in your hand.
i already have XZP since launched and it still good as new. maybe i will not change it for this phone... I'm waiting for Sony Premium Line to replace my current phone.

How does the xz4 compact compare in size to a iPhone 5? I would imagine it is similar, the standard for a normal size phone seems to have changed I guess.

My next phone to replace my XZ premium yaass finally sony nailed again with boxy design. Xz2/xz3 aint it.

21:9 is the FUTURE.. XZ4 is nailing it this time.. 21:9 screen first used on LG BL40 Chocolate.. But Nokia once went wider than that with an aspect ration of 29:9 (on communicators 9210,9300,9500) Slim phones are the FUTURE!!!

Finally a 21:9 because most movies fit into it easily unlike 18:9 and 16:9.

Sony never really claimed on killing the compact lineup completely, rather they'd apply some new changes to their products to make them even bettwr.

sony gets it wrong. The idea is to ditch bezels, thats why all make the screen taller, bcz if they still use 16:9 screen it will looks weird, and uncomfortable to hold for 5.5 inch screen and obove.
Btw，at least with that tower screen, it makes this phone different. sometimes we only need to be different to get attention..

It's the same height as an Iphone 8+ and narrower, so it's easier to hold. Definitely not too tall imo.
