I don't have time to see what the prices of phones are around the world so I used the GSMArena website to get my info (I thought it would be relatively accurate) and I can tell you that Leica 'branded' lenses (be it 2 or 5) does not warrant an extra $300 on the selling price for the average consumer, especially when you are using cheaper displays and 'in house' developed Kirin chips and modems.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2019That competitor has been stealing their employees and tech...Ironically, Samsung using BOE LCD panel for its A8s, & maybe for their M series in order to save cost. As its hard for Samsung to competes with the other mid ranger phones because of the higher price.
So BOE steal Samsung employee for OLED tech & then Samsung buy their LCD? Seems like a win-win situation LOL.

By using the less cost BOE OLED screen, Mate 20 Pro manage to fit in 3 camera sensor, one big Sony IMX 600 1/1.7 sensor size, Ultra wide angle sensor & Telephoto lens. Big 4200mah battery, 40w Supercharge with TUV Rheiland safety certificate, collaboration with Leica, etc. Those arent cheap.
Lets not to forget the price of Note 9 in my country (Malaysia) are still $900 when at that time Mate 20 Pro launch at $865. But it is pricier in Europe region.
On my preference, the advantage of Note 9 are better screen, SD slot & definitely the S-Pen. The rest goes to Mate 20 Pro (the thing i use most has in Mate 20 pro).

What will they actually charge when the quality of BOE matches that of Samsung? I'm betting on the price being about 1 - 3% cheaper just to be cheaper and try to take business away from Samsung's OLED panel sales.
Same thing with the Mate 20 Pro, finally caught up to the big boys and the price of the phone is more than the S9, S9+ and the Note 9.
I'm not saying the phone isn't worth it (definitely not to me) but there is a reason why Samsung has been charging what they do for as long as they did. The phone's are just worth it. And if your into iPhone those prices are worth it as well.

Suppose it happens when 80% of the LG screens all have a green tint. The BOE is a little worse in quality but at least it works as intended.

But BOE playing catching up, with less cost. We as consumer gets the benefit. While LG tackle OLED quality on TV, their mobile OLED doesnt. Keeps plague with problems, blue shift on many various device, pink tint on certain 1st batch of Iphone X & the famous green tint on Mate 20 pro.

I have the Mate 10 pro and I'm not sure if anyone else's has this but my screen is very very dull even with the "vibrant" display option in settings. The only thing that makes it a bit better is the eye care mode so I always have it set to at least half way or more. Samsung AMOLED looks beautiful compared to this...
