Microsoft has undergone quite a change under Satya Nadella's leadership. These days, it's all about playing nice with others.

Microsoft Office suite is known as paid app services. Whether you buy it as a one shot license, or yearly subscription. And as we know, in Linux world, there are plethoras of distro, which might be different between one and others. Their packaging model also different. Let alone their app repositories (the place where you get your app, hassle free). Unless the app itself is open source OR the app is a server app (i.e. Visual Studio Code, Dotnet Core, SQL Server, etc), I don't think you'll get it for Linux. Oracle's might be exception since most of their product is java based.

As long as linux doesn't have a consolidated store where one can utilize to monetize their product, I don't think big companies will pour their efforts into it. Not Microsoft, not Adobe, and I don't know how many more thinking that way.

As for games and professional apps, it's unlikely unfortunately.

Since it plays with Mac OS, when will they release it for Linux?

Office, Autocad, and a few specific games are the only reason I keep Windows on any of my computers.
