The screen is still a big hassle - you need to heat it up so you can pry it off

Weird, I don't see he replace the battery. Why the title is that.

As long as we do not see otherwise comparable products, side by side, you can not deduce as you do from the sales numbers.

That a silly trend starts, does not make it what the end users "want". It only says that they do not hate it so much that it blocks them from buying and stay on their old device...

As in politics in many countries, if we only got horrible candidates, some is still going to be elected, hopefully the least horrible, though that is far from always so... You can not deduce that we "want" horrible politicians....

---On sales. IP certified phones sell more, and people also rarely open the back of their phones nowadays, which means that it's finally time to go fully premium in quality.
You see, the Galaxy S5 failed to deliver on its IP67 promise most of the time, with some amount of water still entering the back of the phone, which is a clear indication of its weak water protection. They then sealed up their phones, and we've got the S7, which was WAYY better at handling water.

You want to keep your battery to remain fresh? Then don't do anything harmful on it.
You want to replace the battery by yourself? Alright, now you can no longer place your phone on a wet surface or use it while in the bathroom.
You don't like carrying a power bank? Then don't use your phone much to get it last a full day.
You prefer thick phones? Good luck finding a slim protective case on them.
Manufacturers just did what's more necessary for smartphones. If they didn't make our phones sealed, then water resistant phones wouldn't be possible.

I think there was once a sailfish or ubuntu touch device that had a modular screen maybe.

A few years ago, you just clicked off the back, to get to the battery.... but by 2018/2019 this cumbersome procedure can be called "fairly easy"....

(but sure it is easier than some of the worse brands, where heat-guns and other special tools are needed)
