vivo Q&A: Pop-up cameras and the future of smartphones

27 January 2019
vivo has been working for years to increase the screen to body ratio and will keep at it going forward. 5G and AI will also play a big role.

Pretty much every answer has the word "innovative" thrust into it somewhere. The entire interview seems like a marketing exercise on vivo's part; they don't even answer the questions asked by the GSMArena team directly.

As much as they defend against it, this interview only hammers home the point that vivo truly innovates for the sake of innovating.

Boring PR talks. It was so scripted and Vivo keep repeating about innovations for consumers sake and not just for innovating almost made me hate Vivo. Not a great interview

Why did they not ask about android update on their current and future smartphone?

Anything that is mechanical, or folds, has hinges etc...is bound to fail, considering how people treat their phones these days.

I like the idea of camera pop-up, despite the fact I cant see any advantage at list for the main one (back). Hopefully the flash will be there too.

they didn't even answer the first question. i bet the next version gonna have both cameras on that pop up thing. and the one after that gonna have just 1 camera that can rotate 180 degree for capture normal photo and selfie. then they gonna have 2 cameras that rotate 180 degrees from both directions. then they gonna make lens accessories for it.then more cameras will come, and eventually the phone will look like it giving us the middle finger. then we gonna have a camera bending scandal. let's wait and see.

Answered by someone who just passed a diploma in PR speak.
                :-p

Even "through extensive research" apparently Vivo still fail at balancing their in-house UI to be regularly updated with corresponding Android ver and security patches' upgrades. So it's useless to talk about bleeding edge product design, when they still fail at the other core aspect which is software.

-DLS-, 27 Jan 2019I question the idea that "truly bezelless screen" is a cust... moreWe don't ask all screen phones, what we need is to have a long lasting battery that will last full day with a single charge even using the phone heavily.

I question the idea that "truly bezelless screen" is a customer need.

Take a shot every single time Vivo states that they don't innovate for the sake on innovation.
