Uhm no, they did it because Samsung had just had problems with the note 7's batteries. In the end it is a plus that we customers get, no need to be shady about it. Check ypu

Well, when I was a Note 4 user, i liked QC 2.0, but the battery only lasted for a year, each year I had to buy a new one. The cable also degraded significantly...
Now, with Mate 10 (huawei supercharge) I'm more happy. Which is surprising because I do not like many standards and wish everyone used USB-C power delivery.
The phone charges literally as you watch (and there's a larger 4000 mah battery)...
I wish there will be more standartization so we'd be able to use common chargers for all devices, AND THAT THAT TECHNOLOGY BE IMPLEMENTED IN PUBLIC SPACES like buses, planes and other available charging sockets.

Hanif Ali Baloch, 04 Feb 2019Hey, there, the information on fast charging method was goo... morei don't think that's possible with a healthy battery. i have observed the same thing in my aged note 4 when its battery was deteriorating- when fast charging, the charge doesn't seem to hold as much as when charged in the regular speed. i had to turn off fast charging on the phone's settings and i got back the same battery stamina.

- what claim is this even? from people you have no idea what their level of usage has been? I have friends from both sides of camp and we all suffer the battery degradation regardless fast charged or slow charged.
[Well, my sister's iPhone 7 Plus is already down on one knee and requires at least 2 charges per day with light to moderate use (mostly Twitter and other social media apps)]
- define light and moderate use. with an avg usage of 3-4 hours per day, my XR will end the day at 7pm with around 50-60% charge from 85-90% charged before sleep at 11-12am. using my old ip6 when it was fresh, i will be around 20-40% by that time, but after 3 years of usage i had to charge it by noon to keep it running. i call myself moderate user
point is, there are so many variations to this idea of light,moderate or heavy user of smartphones and you seem to be finger pointing that iPhone batteries dont last due to your own personal view of usage type

I always charge my Samsung A9 pro 2016 for 6 to 7 hours at less than 1 Ampere. Use GALAXY CHARGING CURRENT pro for all Samsung phones.

Even Huawei themselves know that people don’t trust Chinese tech in things where there’s an element of risk involved.

Hanif Ali Baloch, 04 Feb 2019Hey, there, the information on fast charging method was goo... more2 or 3 years ago I've read some study about fast charging that was saying that even if the charge is quick (in fact not that quick, in modelism we charge lipo at 2C rate without too much wear to the battery, 2C for 4000mAh would be 8A) since the phone is heating for a far shorter time than a normal charge, even if it's higher temperature, it's still better for the battery.
Well, I have no sauce for this info, and it was 2 or 3 years ago so about the 15W charge, not the actual 20W+
What I Don't understand, is how the battery can be charged with highter voltage, lithium battery can't do that. I assume there is a transformator to go from 9V@2A to 5V@3.6A into the phone, that allow the use of lighter cable to carry the current without being Dangerous.
What I know for sure is heat is the ennemy of the battery. So we should avoid charging between 80 and 100% since the charging current is dropped by the controller, the charge is then longer and the battery will be heated for a longer time for few %.

-i charge my s7 2-3 times a day because its battery cant keep up with my usage. i use my phone for phone call, whatsapp, browse, and gaming. And i need it to charge fast at middle of the day so i can mobile. bringing a powerbank around its not convinient.
-5 years ago people may not use their smartphone as intense as now because of hardware limitation.

Hey, there, the information on fast charging method was good, but i am sorry to say that you missed a grave point there. Which is the conclusion of all that talk, "how good is fast charging for your device, its over all battery life and its time being battery life". Because i have felt the bad things of fast charging, i.e. i have the juice in my phone when charged with a fast charger but it does not live as long as it would have, if charged on a normal charger. Do you differ this point?

instead of fast charging, which may not be so safe nor good for battery health, why can't oems give us bigger batteries instead so we can use the phone to the fullest and then only have to recharge at night? i understand the push for thinner and thinner devices, but then as demonstrated by pocophone f1, which is not so thin but not so thick either, that a 4000mAh battery can give you up to 8 hours of screen-on-time so you only have to charge at night. why can't oem just follow the lead of devices like the pocophone f1? because really fast charging only works for those who frequently run out of their battery by mid-day. or instead of wasting time and resources to developing ever faster charging, why not instead spend those developing better batteries than li-ion/li-po of today?

But it's safer with disable. If you uninstall something and you want it back you'll have to hard reset the phone.
I also believe that Samsung has a ton of bloatware..
