Sony trademarks “CinemaWide” display for Xperia XZ4

This phone was previously rumored to have a display with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

        I hope they go back to lcd.
        Oled has too many issues.

          I just hope they soon land on one new standard to replace 16:9.

          Then eventually transfer to TVs as well. The black bars waste so much space whilst watching movies. 21:9 TVs were attempted before, but now with phones getting there, PC monitors as well and even some TV series as well, maybe it's more likely to gain traction.

            21:9 ultrawides atleast in my opinion are gaining popularity, bought one myself for pc and its a great experience. When the resolution gets more support this will be great for the ones who watch alot of videos and movies, even on a phone. XZ4 wont be for everyone, but im sure there are people who would like to give it a go, like me. Will most likely be my next phone , I just hope they have competetive pricing compared to S10 family, it needs that badly.

              Yet I still don't understand how people like a stupid screen cutout over this functional CinemaWide display, which will give more goods than bads compared to that other stupid trend of punch hole screens.
              Like, they could deal with an intrusive viewing experience but hate having more possibilities of being productive?
              Let's just admit it, this world is very unfair. I'm not being biased or a fanboy as you assume, rather I only want the world to actually recognize those who are doing something good apart from those that are just making stupid trends that make our lives worse.
