06 February 2019
The German court banned the older models because a certain chip in them infringed on a Qualcomm patent.

There are very few competitors in the baseband market, and Qualcomm is already dominant to the point of concern. Who else does modems right now; Samsung. Mediatek, HiSilicon, ..?

Apple is getting banned from selling certain phones that have a copyright that they are not paying for because they think they should get a special price whereas Huawei is being banned from implementing networking components but only limiting the sale of phones to U.S Government employees.

If I had a chance to try a Huawei I might be inclined to do so but I am quite content with my Samsung as they have been flawless for me and I'm not spending over $300 on a device I'm not sure of. I have limited experience with whatever Huawei but I didn't like either of them.
iPhone on the other hand will not ever be an option even if it was free. Apple is evil.

you mean knowingly disabling old charger and accessories? knowingly bottlenecking 1 year old devices and not even informing users?
best security? are you joking? just look at how much security breach apple ecosystems had last year! and their encryption is peace of shit cause you could break trough an iphone with just a keyboard or a small script that simulate typing numbers to phone! how it that even secure?
oh back door? why apple has to store a record of your GPS position? isn't that count as backdoor for any one to know where and when you were which wasn't encrypted at all until 2 - 3 years ago!
as for replacing products: if you happen to ever gone to one of those apple stores you knew that they charge you $2000 for a simple cable replacement which at max is about $150-$200 so yeah they replaces every thing without it's being actually faulty!

"I'll gladly pay for all these extras and for the fact that my data and info stays with me and is not used by marketing agencies; I'll gladly pay a few hundred $$ extra instead of turning myself into a data-sharing sheep in exchange for lower device prices."
so you gladly share your data and pay them to have it? isn't that waht exactly you are doing?
and i don't get it why the fuck you thought i was talking about lower priced devices? you should be really dumb to think on behalf of others and make is a fact!

"If you go through an airport and the TSA wants to check your phone, they can just take your android phone and easily bypass all your "security" features and access your content. Whereas if you own an iPhone, they will ask you to unlock it. And if you refuse, they have no way of unlocking it and checking its contents. That's also why you always use 6-digit or 8-digit PINs to unlock your iPhone instead of using TouchID/FaceID. Biometrics are only used to access certain things in your phone, once it is unlocked."
are you sure? all they just need to do is attach a keyboard to your device and run a simple script to typ in numbers and befor you know they just unlocked your iphone!
so very good security! i gladly hand over my blackberry to them you the real secure device!

"So yeah, google is evil. And Apple is the Guardian of the Light."
and just GOD become ashamed of your existence!
your guardian of light is doing whatere it can to force users to by unnecessary products! so have nice time being milked out for no real reason!

Unless the OEM such as Huawei, Samsung or hell Google them self have put in a back door, which there is no proof of since Android is open-source! There is no way they can have hidden a back door or let it be a security hole thanks to the open-source nature and since the device is encrypted the data is secure! Worst of all is iOS is a locked box so if there is a security hole NO ONE WILL SEE IT!!! If how ever a fault is discovered by the govt or some other shady group they can abuse this loop-hole for months or even years before Apple even know about it...

So by my understanding, the ruling is that Apple was guilty of importing phones containing chips from Qorvo and/or intel that Qualcomm contends are patent infringing.
                            - The Qorvo chip was determined to be completely non-infringing in US court, but infringing in German court.
                            - The intel chip was found to be infringing to some extent in Germany, and of infringing 1 Qualcomm patent in US court (but excused as enforcing it would be too damaging to the
                            marketplace).

So now Apple is sourcing different chips to replace both in older iPhone models for the German (possibly also Chinese) market. And the bashers are having a spank day over it?
