I have a Galaxy note and am waiting for ICS to be released, I had an xperia x10i from Sony and personally wont get another sony phone, if you think waiting for Samsung to update to ICS will take a long time, try a sony, almost all other devices had progressed to 2.3 well before sony up'd to 2.1 the release dates kept coming and going and when 2.3 finally arrived my two year contract was nearly finished so I went for the Note, I am so pleased I did and I will never get another sony device. Sony also pretty much lied about multi touch saying the hardware was incompatable but then finaly gave in to user pressure and released a patch.

I've recently bought a Galaxy W I8150, it's more powerful in terms of Hardware in addition to more pricey than many SonyEricsson models which all of them will recieve ICS 4. I NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG PHONE AGAIN. this Korean company has proved that it only concerns about revenue, not customer satisfaction.

I'm quite fine with my Galaxy s2 as is. The phone works perfectly. Even if I was not going to get the update I would still be fine as the phone lacks nothing. Sgs 1 users need not feel left out cause the product is darn good and has been out a while.
The update is just a perk for you to get a new device but in essence you are missing nothing. In fact I'm in no hurry to get ics until the bugs have been sorted out.
