My Linux machines are a cheap Ryzen 5 2400G(16G RAM & SSD) and an old Thinkpad(16GB RAM & SSD). I do all my work & light gaming on Linux. I probably spent more time playing games on my phone than on Linux.

I find the Linux route is optimal for me. I don't need MS Windows anymore.
Maybe when Chromebooks fully support Linux then I will move to that. I like my Acer R11 but it's too weak to run Linux properly.

I'm currently using an Acer R11 which I bought refurbished for $100. It does everything I need except running Linux due to its low RAM. I tried to compile some Dart code last week & it crashed due to out of memory.
So I went on the hunt for an 8GB RAM Chromebook, guess what? Those 8GB RAM Chromebooks are so expensive, some were even more expensive than Windows 10 computers with the same specs.

I agree with everything you said except for "cheap." The new Chromebooks are NOT cheap.
However, I will never buy a Windows computer again. Chrome OS & Linux have everything I need.

Chrome OS is an OS built around the Chrome browser, so no Internet means that C OS is basically useless. Also, it's kind of obsolete with Windows, MacOS and Linux in the picture. C OS is basically Android for laptops and PCs.
