It's almost unreal if Xiaomi will end up delivering a better foldable than Samsung. But there's potential. But it sure as hell ain't going to be cheap and without compromises.

That's nice. I'll wait for 2nd or 3rd generation foldables before considering. There are definitely going to be issues to sort out, and I'm not interested in being a burned early adopter.

The RAZR is a flip phone the essentially needs to be flipped out everytime you use it.
This from Xiaomi is a phone that you only fold out when you feel the need for a bigger screen.
If the RAZR makes a bigger screen outside than the current renders show, so it can be used most of the time then sure. But that is unlikely. And they also see to aim for that original V3, rather than RAZR2 V8 so it will have a chin that steals space both when folded and unfolded. If it was like the V8, with barely any chin, only with all screen on the outside when closed, then I would like it a lot more.

however , if they release them the same price of normal phones in the $700 range thats another thing. but I dont expect that.

Tablets batteries are like 6000-10000 capacity and forget that in a foldable .
I dont see this technology important at all. is just a gimmick.

Even it it would be efficient to pack an iPad size screen, in a iPhone size device, but unfolding it, would require anything more than 5 seconds, it becomes more of an inconvenience for, let's say, 90% of people.

Both are panel suppliers for many handset makers, including their own Mobile divisions. Now that the technology is nearing commercial readiness, it only makes sense that phone manufacturers that were pitched the panels behind the scenes are coming out with designs.
