Luxor, 14 Feb 2019Its not a good investment then. Oneplus probably resale better. Don't take anything the wanderer says about Xiaomi seriosly. He loves to hate on Xiaomi.

Check your local used market online, and ebay or other for international resale.
Resale values on ebay seems to be percentagely on par with other devices. Not to mention that a 50% decrease in value on certain other brands would equal more than the full price of a Xiaomi.

Go go go Xiaomi. We love you.
Compared to other manuacturers you sells for a reasonable price and at same quality they just cant compete with you.

Mate 20 pro has AMOLED screen and 4200 mAh battery

      Surfing time:
      Mate 20 - 19:42h
      mate 20 pro - 13:57h

Look at Xiaomi Mi Max 2. It has a massive 6.4" LCD (16:9), and SD625 and it scores 19:21h on surfing and 21:37h on video. Wonderful battery life, thanks ot its 5300 mAh battery.

Flagships are anything but impressive with regards to battery life, though there have been exceptions.

      Look at this list:
      https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3

Look at SGS6 vs SGS6 Active.
SGS6 - 10:56h surfing and 12:12h video, same for the EDGE version.
      SGS6 Active - 16:25h surfing and 18:03h video

The Active won massively dues to it's significantly bigger battery.

A modern S9 is not better on surfing than the S6, it is actually worse, reaching 10:13h. About half that of the budget Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with massive IPS screen.

If we take S9's 3000 mAh that reached 613 minutes of surfing, on a small 5,8" PenTile AMOLED in 18.5:9, it would need 4800 mAh to reach the 981 minutes of surfing of the Mi Max 2. Scale it up to a equally big screen and it would require more.

Not really impressive, despite its much smaller screen with pentile matrix and newer chipset with smaller nm process.

IPS can be very efficient and as can lower tier CPU/GPU. Battery capacity does matter, A LOT!

That would be the stupidest thing they could possibly do to themselfs.

People buy xiaomi cause it's cheap.
If that changes their sales would go down dramatically.

AnonD-454049, 14 Feb 2019And it's also difficult to find spare parts to repair itYes, sure, unless you use the Internet. . . You sure like bashing on Xiaomi. Working for a struggling competitor perhaps?

My last Xiaomi before my current Mi Mix 3 was the Mi Max. So a low volume budget device, and yet finding a spare part when I accidentally* broke the volume keys, was easy and very affordable $0.99 and free shipping.

*I had my son in shopping trolley and took the phone out for my shopping list, and as I almost had my phone fully out of my inside jacket pocket I noticed my son gliding away from me at a increasing speed. Evidently the floor was tiltled. I dropped my phone on the tile floor as I panicked and grabbed the trolley. It's seen it's share of tile and concrete floor by that time, and this time the back cover came a bit off. Instead of checking that the buttons didn't get wedged in I just smashed it shut, and when facing a bit of resistance I smashed harder :D
Hence the buttons internals got a bit destroyed, hehe.

The high end CPUs and AMOLED screens mean you can get similar battery life with a smaller lighter battery and thinner phone.

Battery size reminds me of the days when people got obsessed with measuring computer speed in Mhz. The headline number isn't the only thing that matters. Why not wait until GSM run their battery tests before judging, the size itself is not the whole story :/

                            AnonD-454049, 14 Feb 2019Because of Huawei lolWell, yeah, that's obvious =)
But, damn, this is still nonsense! Smartphone is just a device for communication and content consumption, it shouldn't be all that flashy/painty, like back panel of Honor View 20 - it is ridiculous, and of course it has its part in overall price of the smartphone, but I don't want to pay that part!
Wanna have your smartphone colourful - go get some case, dbrand skin or whatever. This is "having a choice", not when custom colors of a smartphone are your only default option.

Hard to decided as there is no camera specs nor metadata.
