Mate series is always us... moreCorrect, the P in the P series phones stand for photography, the Mate series helps the phone become an all rounder, hence the 3D face unlock, the 4200 mah battery, the screen resolution etc. The P series implements similar features like wireless charging, currently we've seen improvements in battery too but the main focus is camera quality. I'm actually having difficulty deciding between the mate 20 pro vs p30 pro, I like the p30 pro comes with 8 gb of ram for the standard model

The XR actually can't view 720 p video, you may select it but after youtubers got their hands on it they noticed something wrong with that "liquid retina"

If it's something like OnePlus 5 then obviously you wouldn't notice the difference since the effective resolution is very similar on both due to the pentile subpixel arrangement on typical OLED panels. And maybe you don't notice the jaggedness of the display, but I do.

Yes I agree. A 2k or 4k screen would be nice. But ifs power hungry. And to be honest the P20 pro screen is crisp enough. But I would like to see a higher res screen on P30

But it's still possible to buy unlocked Huawei phones from Amazon, Newegg and Ebay. I'm currently using Mate 20 Lite on the tmobile network and it works well. Updates are a bit difficult to get (no carrier support) but overall it's great performance for the price (only ~$275).

reddwarf2300282, 18 Feb 2019Resolution is poor. It is deal breaker for me.That's BS. You don't need freaking 4K or even 2K on a 5.5 inch device. I've "downgraded" from 1080p phone to "Liquid Retina" on iPhone XR and frankly, I can't really tell a difference. I also used 720p mode on my Huawei that was 1080p and you could again hardly tell a difference. On 10 inch tablets, sure. But on phones, this chasing for ridiculously spec'd screens is just absurd and unnecessary.

FHD on company's 2019 flagship phone? For me that's hard to pass unless the phone comes with top-in-the-industry battery life, camera and speaker quality. With that said I wouldn't mind having a FHD display on my phone if it DOESN'T uses diamond pentile pixel arrangement. The OLED display on my Mate 10 Pro is great, it has a really good color accuracy, brightness and contrast - But honestly I wish it had QHD resolution instead as it doesn't look that crisp compared to other flagships' displays.
I sincerely hope that this leak is only about P30 Lite and the regular P30, not the pro. Also Huawei shouldn't rely on LG as their display supplier ever again, no more green display issue thank you.

Vasra, 17 Feb 2019The restrictions apply only to Network components, not phones.Huawei phones are banned from sale by phone companies in the US - AT&T wanted to sell the P20 Pro at CES in 2018, but was prevented by the US government.

You can import to the phone to the US but try going into a store and buying one, very hard to find it at retail!

I had all the Galaxy S series due to high screen resolution. Got myself a p20 pro this year. I am in a position where i say i prefer to pay more for more camera options rather than having a 2k or a 4k screen. + have a battery that truly last a day of usage and the p20 pro give me all that. Not a single samsung phone i owned gave me that. Only a gorgeous screen with vivid colors that got burn in issues after some months of usage.

If pro device has low screen resolution then it is a deal breaker whether they give big gifts along with.

While most Mate series debut a new Kirin CPU these days the P9 and P9 Plus debuted a newer Kirin than the Mate 8. EVEN if it wasn't a major upgrade...it still was an upgrade.
