The last Oracle, 19 Feb 2019Corephotronics developed this for Oppo, as did the 5x zoom.... moreTrue. OIS would be unavoidable and you could probably add something like "night sight" to increase the amount of light captured.

It IS the same old 5x module they showcased back in 2017. Now they have just baselined it against an ultrawide lens to qualify it as a "10x"zoom. Nothing revolutionary here.

Using a mirror telescope requires a large absolute aperture which is not feasible on a phone. Other option is to go down to a 1/6" to 1/8" sensor which would only really work in very good light. Would still be interesting to see assuming they can even get it to production.

But for real though, the photo teased looked promising, and if both lenses have OIS then it will definitely help to reduce blurry photos taken with the 10x Hybrid Zoom

I'll just wait for Xiaomi to steal this tech and improve it which will be sold way cheaper. I love how patents work in China. Love from India.

The wide angle camera and the zoom unit combined provide a 16mm to 160mm range which is exactly 10 times (160/16=10) or 10X OPTICAL zoom. There is NOTHING digital in this equation. You're welcome.

The last Oracle, 19 Feb 2019Corephotronics developed this for Oppo, as did the 5x zoom.... moreVariable f stop is to be expected in optics this small relative to sensor size. The only way to make the arpeture constant is to make the front element larger or or make the sensor much smaller.
The former is impossible to do without making the phone thicker, as the larger front element would require a larger prism.
The latter would be kind of pointless, because you will lose out in ISO gain with a smaller sensor size.

Moj, 19 Feb 2019i would be glad if you provide a link to that! Also if it ... moreIt is a company from Israel.
Samsung bought this company 2 weeks ago for $100 million.

Corephotronics developed this for Oppo, as did the 5x zoom. The problem is that the light loss has not been addressed. therefore every time you start zooming, you start losing light. Which is a huge issue with the small size of smartphone sensors.

That's why the last time they advertised the 5x Zoom, it didn't go too far. Otherwise thelat would have been a standard in all smartphone cameras.

Samsung has now bought Corephotronics. So we'll know about the capabilities of the greatly advertised 5x and 10x zoom with regard to loss of quality.

We want to see it in Oppo flagship, not prototype. Huawei will probably use it in P30 pro, which will be shown in the end of the March. And Oppo?
