Bixby button remapping coming to older Galaxy phones too

22 February 2019
The new Galaxy S10 lineup can already do that.

It's just that I wished to have all of it OFFICIALLY:)

The one reason I left Samsung and carrier phones. Apps and buttons forced down your throat.

SadSoul, 23 Feb 2019So you are advertising a particular "link" to disable Bixby... moreYou seem to miss the point...
bxActions (and the 1000 other like it you mention) RELY on Bixby to be there to make the button do something sensible.
SURE this is better than default, And SURE it would be better if Samsung offered that directly.

...But MUCH better would be if they allowed us to remove Bixby directly through the phones UI.
And had the button usage completely independent of Bixby, and user selectable of course.

But as they do not offer these options, at the least it IS possible to get rid of Bixby using ADB...
I don't care if people use my link or another, as long as they find out how to get rid of the junk (with no ads I actually have expenses and not income by trying to help people...)

And I can just wonder how the action of the button becomes "off topic" to remapping the button in your universe.

EskeRahn, 23 Feb 2019There are? All the ones I have seen still have Bixby active... moreSo you are advertising a particular "link" to disable Bixby services using adb? NOT INTERESTED, I've tried all that a 100 times before. Also, it's way better to remap it completely using bxActions/ButtonMapper with single/double/long press actions without letting Bixby voice/Bixby to launch using those apps than turning it into a dead button. I simply wished Samsung gave an option officially to stay away from Bixby completely and made the Button entirely re-mappable as per users choice that is no way happening.
Nice try but since it's going way off topic, it's better not to discuss out of context, at least I WILL NOT.

I suggest to do a clean Android disable (well "disable-user")

Here the thread is about OFFICALLY remapping the bixby where you CANNOT get rid of it and that sucks.

I've never pressed the Bixby button, even though my left thumb rests on it all the time (in portrait mode).
Probably because I use the Samsung Protective Standing Cover (MIL-STD-810G-516.7 compliant).

I might check it out 1 day, but it isn't a priority.

Good, that's one entry down in my reason-to-not-get-a-samsung-phone list

Its good that bixby is here..at least Google will be on its toes...

Also only bixby allows you to lock you phone by voice.. Google assistant just googles it

Its an assistant that really live in the device. Device control is a nifty feature tbh. You cant do that with Google assistant.

My point is that we (at the least) CAN get rid of Bixby, without the need of rooting, flashing or the like. And that leaves the button dead - but though bad, it is better than launching Bixby...

Should get a petition together to get Samsung to stop with the Bixby shenanigans as no one really wants it.
