Is this the Nokia Lumia 900 first official picture?

23 December, 2011
Larger screen, front-facing camera and design similar to Lumia 800 - the pictured smartphone ticks all boxes.

AnonD-1082, 26 Dec 2011The performance of the Lumia 800 is better than the SGS 2 w... moreYou are basing your claims on what? The ability to swipe the screen left and right? Sure, WP7 has the ability to smoothly transition from one home screen to another, but then again theres no graphical demand since everything is just tiles, there are no widgets that uses up graphic processing. How about taking a look at Galaxy Nexus which has hardware acceleration enabled on the UI it is much more smooth than WP7, uses live backgrounds, and has widgets.

How is the screen better than Super AMOLED HD, again you are basing this on what? Your personal preference? From all the reviews out there, the Galaxy Nexus with it's Super AMOLED HD is clearly the winner. So you're going to claim that your Nokia WP7 runs as fast as an Android quad core? Android Quadcore devices don't exist, so 1x0 = 0. So your WP7 device runs as fast as 0, which loses to to dual core.

The sales you mentioned are due to recent release? The Nokia Lumia 800 is still a new device, much much newer compared to Iphone 4S and Galaxy S II, how about taking a look at the UK market share like I mentioned. It only captured 0.17% of smart phone market share in November, which was it's release date, this is coupled by the fact that ORANGE UK was giving away free xbox 360's with every purchase or upgrade of the Lumia 800. It lost to devices such as the Galaxy S II and Iphone 4S which was launched many MONTHS before the Lumia 800 meaning initial demands for those two devices have pretty much died out.

Anonymous, 26 Dec 2011seems like you are the one that's mad, bro. Hence the need ... moreThe performance of the Lumia 800 is better than the SGS 2 which only have a dual core. The Lumia 800 performs like a quadcore Android and that's how optimized WP 7.5 is. The screen is not HD but if you look at it, it's way better than Super Amoled HD. Simply put, the Lumia 800 may not win on the specs department but if you look at it in person, it's way better than anything Samsung have. It also carries the best and most trusted brand name when it comes to smartphone, Nokia. To me, it's Nokia or nothing at all.

Haven't you heard that the Lumia 800 is selling better than the iPhone 4 S in the Netherlands? It's selling so well that people were lining up like how they used to in an iPhone launch. Nokia is on the rise and sales of the Lumia 800 are up 1000x and it's leaving the sales of the SGS 2 eating dust. That's the truth! People really wants WP 7.5 and the Lumia 800 is the true Android killer.

Sun Down, 25 Dec 2011Let's try that again. The reason I chose this 'lesser specc... moreseems like you are the one that's mad, bro. Hence the need to get defensive every time someone makes a comment about how they don't like Nokia's junk releases.

Not discernible to the naked eye? I don't know about you but I can clearly tell the difference looking at 1280x720 resolution vs 800x480, hell most people can even tell the difference between 1280x720 and 1920x1080. Whats wrong with more pixel? It increases pixel density which makes images, icons, and everything looking more smooth. Weren't you nokia fanboys crying about how high the pixel density of Nokia phones were so that even with low resolution the phones still looked good? Well whats your excuse now? Android and iOS devices now not only have high pixel density but large displays.

Whats wrong with having a dual core? If i ever need it I would rather have the performance there than not. Just because Windows Phone 7 doesn't support dual core SoC doesn't mean its not needed. It just shows how immature an OS WP7 is, hell until recently WP7 didn't even support multi-tasking.

Again, my claim proves correct, you don't think paying $30,000 for a Hyundai Sonata is a good deal when you can get a BMW, a Mercedes, a Lexus, an Infiniti for the same price do you?

Nokia devices are rubbish, this is clearly proven by statistical data during November when Nokia Lumia 800 only captured 0.17% market share for November, sad but its truth. Nokia phones were given away with xbox 360s, and competing against the Galaxy S II that is how many months old? Nokia can go out and claim "strongest presale, strongest demand" all they want. A 100% increase from 0.01% isn't much.

And for me Android is most boring and most immature OS on current market. Oh well, WP7 is even more boring. I would never buy a device with Android OS, at least not now. Symbian and MeeGo for ever!

"touch-sensitive keys are located much closer to the bottom edge"

Yes, and also the Nokia-logo is far away from the WP7 tiles on top edge. So this aint Lumia 900. It is just a poster with Lumia phones made in some paint program and the drawer hastn been pro enough to made it look like exactly as Lumia 800 which it still is.

Mobilemaster, 24 Dec 2011Exactly, it looks the same as the Lumia 800! Poor Nokia, th... morespecs are a lot of things buddy, but they arent everything. its totally a personal thing, but many people LOVE the interface of WP7. including me.
There are dealbreakers though,no, not the storage thing (the MUCH admired iphone doesnt have it either) but things like the bluetooth niggle are some major put-offs.
Even when the older 3GS is being sold at a discount here in india, a lot of people are buying it NOT coz of the PERFORMANCE, but because of their love of the iOs interface.

                    EXPERIENCE matters, not just specs.
And the lumia is amongst the most strikingly charming phones out there IMHO.
                    Peace.
                    And Merry christmas people :)

funny how easy it is to see who have actually used WP7 and who haven't. :)

I have NEVER been so happy with my phone as I've been since I switched from that dull and slow Android-system to something fresh.

The reason I chose this 'lesser specced' item over some dual-core, 720p, huge-ass screen geniusphone is because it covers things that you'll never see with the naked eye. I'm once like you, thinking that better specs:price ratio is the best and only tech-savvy people know that. But sooner or later you'll notice the little things that makes these 'lesser specced' devices better than the rest.

I guess if your only options coming from your beloved and almighty brands were junk you would resort to delusion of how certain things are not true. Probably believe that Nokia Lumia 800 is actually selling well even though it only captured 0.17% of the UK market share for November huh?

Probably believed Nokia wholeheartedly when they told you the Lumia sales were the "strongest" they've had recently and that sales were good right? When have we heard that before? Oh yes, N900, N8, E7, N97... you pick.

Don't forget that Orange UK threw in a free xbox 360 with the upgrade or purchase of a Lumia 800.

Yeah specs don't matter but if you're paying the same price why would you choose the lesser spec item? Do you think its a good value for paying 30,000 for a Hyundai Sonata vs 30,000 for a BMW 3 series or a Lexus IS series? Don't think so.
