4G/5G are standards used throughout the whole world so it effects everyone using those standards.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2019LOL - You most certainly do have an agenda as the US hasn't... moreIt was US that convinced it's allies to ban Huawei equipment. Fact of the matter is that Huawei is still present (& dominant) in the majority of the world, and they're the 2nd largest smartphones brand worldwide.

I'm not going to bother replying to you any further.

travis999, 26 Feb 2019Possibly because of the usual American hypocrisy ? And the... moreUmmmm, NO. It wasn't a "study" of the US carriers, it was a paper, regarding the vulnerability of the 4G and later, 5G protocols.

FYI, this research was presented almost a year ago:

            https://wp.internetsociety.org/ndss/wp-content/uploads/sites/25/2018/02/ndss2018_02A-3_Hussain_paper.pdf

I suppose it understandable that it may be tough for you to comprehend that a research paper done in universities in the US would involve US carriers. But really boys, if you don't understand the central premise of the paper, that being the vulnerability is part of the 4G and 5G protocols, which all carriers around the world use, then you really shouldn't be making your silly comments demonstrating your ignorance.

You can say whatever you want, but the fact that you did single out the US without mentioning other national networks (Australia, for example) says volumes.

To further clarify, I don't have "an agenda". I just speak my mind about things i feel the need to comment on.

And the fact that it was an investigation specifically looking at American networks.
Other providers and network hardware makers elsewhere in the world may use different hardware and protocols that don't allow such attacks to work ?
You don't need to have an "agenda" to investigate or comment on the results of such an investigations findings..

Because only someone with an agenda would say what you said. If you weren't so ignorant you wouldn't had said that, knowing this is an issue with the 4G/5G standard.

Who uses the 4G/5G standard? EVERYONE who wants interoperability with 4G/5G equipment!

                            Wow, that's...nothing new.

"all four major US carriers are affected by Torpedo and the attack could be carried out with radio equipment costing $200. Meanwhile, one of those US carriers are vulnerable to the Piercer attack"

US keeps pointing fingers at Huawei for alleged espionage, yet their own network security is flawed & vulnerable to this degree. It's laughable really.

You could also use a scanner, purchased from a store like Radio Shack or similar, to listen in to a two-way mobile conversation with ease especially as the analogue calls didn't change channels like the digital ones.
