Starz, 06 Mar 2019Good. My mum has a 2G only Nokia 222 on EE. Maybe that explains why EE is not shutting down the 2G network but so many other carriers in many countries are.

Wiz, 06 Mar 2019But how much will they charge for all that data you'll need? Depends on where you live. In Sweden Unlimited (actually unlimited) costs about 45€ per month. Thats pretty ok.

You do realise EE still supports the 2G network - something that is being phased out in so many countries just not the one EE is in. I find it really weird!

Anonymous, 06 Mar 20195G will just make you get there faster..and pay even more a... moreWe have near Gigabit. Why would you want it even faster?! At 1Gbps, everything should load in a blink of an eye. And no, sites won't start serving higher resolution content overnight. They need to upgrade existing facilities first. They'll need faster storage, faster network controllers, faster fiber internet... The big Internet giants may support this change, but not smaller companies and local ISPs/MNOs.
Countries that will benefit from 5G are countries like India where the network speeds are SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Or more remote areas where a FTTP/H network is not financially possible. Elsewhere, meh.
Companies that focus on 5G capitalize on useless stuff like VR. Some may find it cool and all, but this isn't something you will do on-the-go. Imagine being dumb enough to do some VR on the sidewalk of a 8-lane boulevard.

It enables deve... moreIf I wanted to play FLACs on my phone I'd pick up an LG flagship, throw in an SD card and move all of my FLACs over to there, no need for streaming, everything is local. 5G is utterly pointless, I guarantee you that literally anything would load just as fast on a 5G network as it would on a 4G network. 4G LTE is the perfect balance between cost, signal range, signal speed and safety and 5G only focuses on speed and nothing else.

People calling 5G useless don't understand. It enables developers to make use of it.
Before you know it, we'll have way higher quality videos, no need for over compression on videos/pictures/music. We'll be able to utilise lossless music with better DACs in phones with better headphones.
You all have to realise that 5G will be incredibly vital to our ever progressing digital age. We may have 10x more things connected and need the speed to handle all the things that go through it. Who knows what people may develop that will use 5G. All I know is everyone complains at the start and then understands it few years later.

And yeah there's that annoying data limit. But 5G won't make those limits magically disappear.

What the hell are you doing on your phone to ever saturate that? But the fact you only have a 20GB plan is the real problem. And all the "unlimited" plans that have 50GB limit in the small print and then they drop to Edge speeds basically when over the limit...
