Sony Xperia 10 Plus disassembly video shows the 21:9 screen is easy to replace

07 March 2019
It helps that the 6.5" screen is the first thing you remove. The battery, however, is buried pretty deep.

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2019Those brands are low end brands compared to Sony quality co... moreThere is not a single phone out there made by Sony which survived 2-3 years of lifetime because of manufacture process made by Sony. Memory chip balls disconnected, cpu as well etc etc. By the way thermalpads under thermalshield hahah thats hilarious. There is not a single benefits of Sony's manufacturer process. Even lg g3 which is in statement alome a bad logic board have middle frame to relax on or to fix chip it self even if it fails over time due to heating issues. Thats why modern manufacturer process uses glue to glue whole damn chip so there is no movement what so ever. Not to talk about Sony's tablet which uses both thermal pads and thermal paste under the thermal shield. The idea alone is absurd. Then we have compact variants and even some of flag ships that uses only one side for every electronic compoment while everybody else uses both sides plus almost 60% of vital components are glued. G3 issue was memory chip which was not glued at all. If it was those ephones would never have any issues. In comparison samsung phones even low tier last longer time compared to those who i mentioned. Htc phones are good but even those have some absurd lay outs. Very absurd. But issues with htc phones are not manufacturing process but instead hardware incompatibility. One camera cant work with same model. Even if its the same part. That alone is very strange engineering. Same thing goes with samsung touch but at least you have option to calibrate new hardware

Sony phones are NOT special. They have to play with the same physics as other phones, and are at the mercy of supplies, technology and market conditions as everyone else.

Sure, you might upgrade your phone every 2 years or earlier, but many people are keeping their devices 3-4 years. And if you happened to have a unit of phone that lasted you 4 years well, then good for you, but that is anecdotal evidence and not statistical. Believe it or not many people do get the batteries replaced for their phones, but it gets harder and harder as the phone designs become worse from the point of durability, serviceability, and parts availability (ie/ Planned Obsolescence).

One of the best/longest lasting phones out there today is the LG V20 (QSD 821) and Samsung Note 4 (Exynos 5433).... because they were built with quality in mind, and have removable batteries.

So Sony s plan is to use older chipset but giving it better environment to push it work 100% performance thats smart.

Battery is battery, and they do not last forever. You still need to replace them when they can't maintain voltage and/or the capacity drops. For most phones this happens around 18 months, the really good quality ones usually last double that (eg iPhone 5S, very high quality). There are some really expensive batteries that last longer, but then we're talking about x10 or higher prices for some camping, military, and NASA grade purity.

So no, you need to change batteries on a SONY phone if you plan on using it longer than your average lifespan, and so easy access is a priority.

It should be titled easy to detach but not easy to replace since it's hard to find or buy sony's components if DIY.

Not even Lg G3-4... moreI do like the of having the screen be removed from the top side (as that makes it easier to replace). However I don't like how difficult it is to access the battery now, since that's also one of the most replaced components.

Maybe phones should be built very sturdy/tough, with a middle metal chassis, but be opened from both ends. Top end for screen only. Bottom end to access battery, and then access the metal chassis, to replace other components like cameras, ports, etc etc.

Hey, it's nice to know how's Xperia 10 Plus component insider. Heat copper was last seen on Xperia X Performance, original XZ and so on use 3-layer graphite sheet, so nice to know it's back on X10+
