It's sure weird to see a 2014 app being released on iOS in 2019 to be honest...

I read the same news article from a different news site called "INDEPENDENT" and it's title was "PS4 games can now be played on iPhone." Their clickbaiting game is so strong.

Would it not be possible to have the app just stream what the PS4 is displaying and just use the Dualshock as normal? Sure there would be some input lag but I'd prefer that over having to use awkward touch screen controls. I hope Sony is coming up with some way to make the Dualshock compatible with this app in the future.

You can't link a DS4 controller to an iOS device (at least, not without jailbreaking or dongle).
But what about MFi gamepads, like the ones they sell in the Apple Store?
It would be great to use a SteelSeries Nimbus gamepad with Remote Play.
The controller is awesome, but it does miss out on a couple inputs such as L3/R3 triggers, Options/Share buttons, and Touchpad.
Hopefully Sony supports it (its upto Sony, not Apple) to map the MFi buttons to the App's signalling.
