HMD is working on fixes for the Nokia 9 PureView camera, in-display FP reader

13 March 2019
The camera has been known to crash when the battery charge is low. Also, the fingerprint reader has "limitations".

"...so clearly there are some issues that need to be ironed out."

This is obviously a rushed product. It's shouldn't have been released at all. Especially not with technologies that are still at their infancy. Give it a side-mounted or back-mounted fingerprint-scanner, which also uses less battery then a lit-screen, and the problems mentioned would be a lot less common.

Again, we see a company without common sense that doesn't listen to customers, that just does what it wants to do and will eventually fail (again).

Well Nokia will fix that soon as apple does.
I dont see any problem here.
Its still nice and decent premium device for a very affordable price compared to its specs and the best ever camera a phone ever had.

And i find 3000000 articles about it's problem. Welcome to the speed life, evveryone wants fast, but no one is willing to compromise. This is how companies can go further, release a device fast enough and then improve it. The huge difference between this one and apple or samsung is the price. As for what fans like, they like what they want. Trolls on the other hands, are not liked anywhere. Now take a hicke, you're boring.

And in-display FP readers work really well, the only problem is the time to recognize the fingerprint which is slower but they are really reliable so I' m convinced the issue comes from the OS which is again not optimized at all..

Thanks HMD and Google, Bloatwares have still a long life in Android !!!!

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2019"They will modify the scale of the battery logo so it shows... moreSimply because not all manufacturer do it the same way. Some will shut your phone down at 15% per consumer will said it's shit cause they can't use the last 15%, others shut the phone down at 2% and consumer brag about it and trash other that are shut at 15%.
Look at the huawei phones (at least mate 10 pro that I have) that have like 30-1h heavy usage at 100% before droping to 99%. People are happy cause when they go to sleep with 100% battery unplugged, their phone still have 100% on the morning, even if it's effectively only 90%. But the fact is people will brag about it, and their friends/colleague will maybe go for the same thing.
It can have an impact on the phone/brand image in fact.

Not really an oxymoron, because the best state you can keep your battery is 40%. It allows the longer lifetime (and that's why a phone comes with a 40% charge, battery are stocked with this level). I never had battery issue on any phone even after 2 to 4 years of use. And taking care is just a way of thinking that I prefer rather than just over protecting things due to lack of caring. But it's just my way of seeing things, I agree on that.

That's any oxymoron. The manufacturers have modified the battery percentage but still people are doing 100 to 0. By that logic we are not going to the real 0 so why bother? And why would a phone switch off if it is actually at 15-20% instead of 0%?
Besides since when did manufacturers started thinking about consumers that way? They would welcome battery exchange since they get profit out of it.

hmm, 14 Mar 2019There is no quality in new Nokia/HMD. Takes 2 years to spoi... moreIn 2016 it would have been premium, in 2019 it is not. It's "only" $800. Premium are more like $1000 when mid shifted from 400 to 500/550. It's just top mid tier phone.
Plus, I had nokia 920, 1520, 950Xl (almost not nokia there, ok), and all had really bad quality issue. 920 had screen that shifted wellow in 1 years due to overheating. 1520 was amazing but tactile was doing what it wanted, not recongnizing touch, or Phantom touch, very spread issue. 950Xl was good, but Msft just abandonned it but then again, it was not really a Nokia.

So yeah, Nokia did great brick phone with feature phone, but that's all. And have an amazing Snake game.
I'll get this one cause I like the natural post process of the camera, not like my Huawei mate 10 pro. They will modify the scale of the battery logo so it shows 5% when it will be effectively 20% (every manufacturer do that since dropping below the real 10% of a lipo battery just kill it, and people I Don't know why, love to go from 100 to 0, rather than staying in the safe 80-20% zone, so manufacturer modify the scale displayed).

Fingerprint issue is the real issue here, but well, we did well before FP scanner too. At least we will not forget our password/scheme if we use it daily xD

HMD releasing too many phones, they should consider quality over quantity.. Of course its vanilla android experience, its easier to update a device, but I dont see Nokia spirit overall

Stupid Nokia, their screen is not bezel-less, yet they use the in-screen finger scanner.
Their in-screen finger scanner is low-end compared to other brands.
What's the point of having the low-end in screen finger scanner?

Nokia should reduce the cost of in-screen finger scanner to normal finger scanner at the bottom chin or side or rear.

Not at all surprising! They had already mentioned that they will release updated version of this handset later this year with better hardware & other improvements. This product was not suppose to be offered for consumers for daily use but for tech users for testing & review purpose only.
