Next thing we know, the good 'ol Whatsapp turns into an e-commerce retailer.

    I can see what's going on. They want to entice people into making impulsive purchases.

    Say you were wasting your time on this "soap sheble plate from". You come across a picture of someone that was modified on a computer to meet society's unreachable beauty standards. You having rock-bottom self esteem, you want to look like this person. Oh look, a purchase button. You can buy the same clothes and the same makeup as the person supposedly used to look so good. Next thing you know, you just bought 50$ of clothes and 90$ in makeup. And Facebook takes in a percentage of those sales.
