Gmail is not shitting down, Google Mail Inbox shutting down that means the gmail interface and features in the inbox will be changed only to be better, like what?
like red badge if gmail will be turned to blue
also when you send an email even if it is send you'll have couple of seconds to undo this action.. so why ppl complaining and thinking that google gmail will shut down, no it is only the inbox will be changed by its interface and features to better

I'm going to use Outlook more often from now on and I'm switching from Chrome to Microsoft's new Chromium-based browser as soon as it's available. As for their cloud gaming service lol it's going to be cancelled just like all their other projects like Ara and Glass.

I'll miss being able to see and create reminders within Inbox. It was the only place where ALL reminders (from Inbox, Keep and Calendar) could be seen. Google has managed to make a mess of task management throughout the years, and Inbox was a rare exhibition of sanity.
It was a niche product, but I do not think Google realises that it was used by its most loyal defenders, like Google+, Reader or Hangouts. With their demise, Google is showing the finger to those who fought with friends and families to use Google's alternatives over the mainstream competition (Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp).
It will not be easy to quantify how much these cancellations will cost Google on the long run, but I am sure that it is not as simple as saying "only 3 million people used Inbox". For example, after being burned too many times, I know I won't sign up my family for the new game streaming service from Google.

I'm in the "what's Google Inbox?" camp. I'm having enough trouble just trying to keep Google Mail on my phone unchanged and usable, occasionally playing whack-a-mole with "features" like auto-sorting my mail into made-up and completely irrelevant categories that thankfully Google let me switch off a while ago...
