We'd be relieved of Google the monopolist cornering the market and a variety of US and EU companies could compete and provide services. A thousand flowers would bloom and consumers would benefit.

          On the downside we'd wouldn't have access to clickbait thumbnails leading to videos that rip off other's copyrighted work, with ads every 2 minutes

            Good. I simply can't stand Facebook and Google. Both are horrible companies.
            Google = good services, awful policies

And an opportunity to other business to emerge. If disappear others will take that place asap and with the example of Google as a lesson of how lose a big chunk of the world market, they'll come with more fair practices. So let them delete themself from this part of the world.

                      Thats fair.
                      Advertising here advertising there.
                      10 years ago werent any advertising via internet and now we are scared to open one site to have a 40 pop ups :-)

                        Easy money making machine.... Just keep slapping fine after fine after collecting enough tax!! Risk free business
