With an additional polarization layer like Nokia's ClearBlack Display (I have it back then in early days of Lumia), LCD (of course we talk about IPS LCD) should be good enough compromise between cost, age-of-service, display quality, and repair cost. Specially for me who use device for more than three years of intense usage. Sure, having OLED is cool, but with those plethora of disadvantages, I'd rather pick LCD.

Oled x LCD
Advantages: better images, less power used when image is majority black
Disavantages: need to be used at lower brightness, burn in, image retention after only few weeks or months, more power used when image is majority white (2x than LCD) , more expensive, colour shift
If LG was the queen of mobile oled since 2009 instead of Samsung the number of lovers would be much lower even if their screens had same quality. The fact that it's Samsung boosts the compliments.

Notable amoled from the past: Nokia 808. RGB pattern and led sunlight legibility test for 5 or more years. (Until today only few models can beat its score.) Yeah, resolution and pixel density weren't the best but that was because of Symbian restrictions. Looking at 808 screen right now, it's perfectly sharp and clear, thanks to RGB pattern. Diamond pattern sucks. Big time. :)

ILoveSmartphones, 24 Mar 2019when Samsung first released oled on the galaxy s1 everyone ... moreWeird the fact their most expensive TVs are LCD.
Where I live , a QLED series 9 of 88" costs equivalent to US$ 18000.
Bravia Oled 65" came for $6000.

AMOLED has been well ahead of LCD for a long time now. I tried a Mi Mix 2 and hated the LCD... How anyone can enjoy grey blacks has me beat.

What about pwm flicker?
Its enough of an issue that NotebookCheck measures it in all reviews now.
Is GSMArena going to gloss over this issue?

ILoveSmartphones, 24 Mar 2019when Samsung first released oled on the galaxy s1 everyone ... moreAnd it's taken them ten years to get oled/amoled to look natural and measure well on mobile devices..
If everybody else walked over a cliff, I presume you would follow..
Just because "everyone" does it, doesn't mean its the best, usually it means just good enough, while being more profitable..
I have properly colour trained eyes, (printer) I still prefer a good LCD to every amoled screen I have tried on a mobile device yet..

I do not the fetish for oled.
It has more CONS than PRO.
It costs much more due to not efficient way to be made by koreans ( evaporation costs more than inkjet printing, also wastes more material).
Screens costs a lot to be replaced, more than 30% of the device's price.
No surprise the computers avoid it...

Samsung also has a modular MicroLED TV. Buy a 55" TV now, expand to a home cinema later. Or go from 16:9 to Anamorphic without a new TV.
