What does that have to d... morefyi, ics upgrade is unlike windows version upgrade which requires better hw to support. ics brings alot of improvements especially faster browsing n the utilization of gpu instead of cpu thus save battery life. this is a plus in mobile tech nowadays. please do some readings before u post
the problem with samsung mobile is the resource hungry touchwiz which slow down the phone/tablet. i just couldnt believe that the biggest mobile maker is ignoring their flagship phone n tablet which they r capable of upgrading it, and keep on denying, giving lots of excuses. in fact, they should do something different, like upgrade without touchwiz and so on. so that customer will have more respect on them, thinking from cuatomer point of view. now, gtab n sgs users got an image tht samsung is trying to hint to them, is time to change new phone, although tht is not the case. i think samsung should 'continue' copy what apple did on their upgrade policy (upgrade iphone 3gs to ios4) just release ics and let user judge when to upgrade their phone rather than giving excuses.

What I am stating is that one official update does not mean that Samsung did a bad job and that everyone needs to quit whining and complaining and saying how this makes them the worst and they are so evil and cheating everyone. I'm not the biggest touch whiz fan but they should not have to get rid of it to make you happy. Honestly without custom rom, overclock, and loss of touch whiz i bet ICS on the sgs will become a little laggy and that would not be good for Samsung would it. And as also stated you can get it urself. If you are not going to custom rom it then most likely you dont need ICS

Ravi, 06 Jan 2012At the end of this article, see the SOURCE link.I have read the article, it states the forecast is 35M but this number is not from Samsung and the article does not clarify where the number comes from. The profit numbers are coming from Samsung and I have no reason to doubt that they did extremely well in the last quarter last year.

NO it's 17...OMG THAT IS S... moreif nexus s is getting ics, y not gtab & sgs? when gtab n sgs launch, it is price much higher than tab 10.1 n sgs2 in my country. these customers r willing to try out n believes samsung will deliver high end, flexible n open source android os. in fact, samsung did delivered. i m a proud onwer during tht time.today, samsung has abadon these customers and forget part of their success today is from the contributions of these customers who recomends to others. ics on gtab n sgs is not something impossible, and i dont see any point not updting it since nexus s with equivalent spec had it. unless samsung is telling us google make wrong decision to update nexus s.

this is what we get when we buy samsung. yes, touchwiz is identity, since every maker make their own launcher/identity, being stock android is also an identity. with limited hw resources, it is the best solution. they should think from customer point of view. it wouldnt b big deal if they release without touchwiz, in fact, they can tell the world that they sacrifice touchwiz, customer first n so on.....

Samsung and Android has filled the void created by Apples own marketing pitching the iPhone to only high yield buyers. Everyone wants the "Apple experience" but cannot afford it, however the cheaper Android system does provide a close second for any hardware maker. To me Apple has handed to Samsung in particular a large market segment they themselves ignored. However Samsung has introduced too many products with little differentiation which will work against the value of their brand. There is now too much hype and expectation with Samsung products. I have the Samsung Note for example and whilst it is great to look at, it is clearly over rated with respect to what it can actually deliver.

Good to see consumers coming into the light... Samsung outdo themselves every year and will continue to do so following their current formula; excellent phones with the best specs and software, and competitive pricing. This is what we want, and they deserve their every success.

angel, 06 Jan 2012copying Apple pays off :)SO are u saying that Samsung copied apple with the galaxy s II a phone that came out 6 months before, and wow IOS 5 ... like where have i seen the exact set out before.. hhmm let me think, hasn't andriod had that set up for the past year and a half. lets face facts, Apple is going down, and they know it so they will try and make an extra few million before closing up shot with endless paitent lawsuits and constant upgrade failure ei Iphone 4S 5.1 and battery life.

i just dont like samsung...the name is cheap...sam-sung..doesn't feel good..i prefer sony and htc..the design, camera and sound..more classy..anyway..it depends on us users..the specs is good but the name is cheap..no offense..and i just want to be different..you know..i don't want to follow the trend where most of the people uses samsung phones..

You obviously didn't pay attention to the fact that SGS was updated from eclair all the way up to gingerbread and that quite a few reputable devs have chimed in and said that few of those pre-ics updates are already reaching the capacity limit on the device which confirms samsung initial statement exactly.
Lot of people have chimed in and said to remove touchwiz but why would they? It's their product identity. If you don't like touchwiz and want ICS, you can still get one (CM9)
