As for Corning, it's not plastic they're making, they're truly making glass that can bend. Hell, Apple pretty much confirmed that for us

Walter C. Dornez, 28 Mar 2019Actually, Corning has made good progress with making foldab... moreGorilla Glass is arguably the only component that promises to be highly smash or crash resistant and is probably the first one to get cracked. I have cracked the back of my phone in skinny jeans jumping a flight of stairs (small crack to be fair).
I don't think Gorilla Glass will ever be truly resistant to breaking from drops, and I don't think theh will make any plastic screens which will truly insane levels of damage resistant. I am actually guessing the Samsung Fold already has material which is extremely resistant to damage and probably so does Huawei and Xiaomi (and most likely all 3 are made by Samsung).

I don't think there is going to be any sort of crease on Samsung Galaxy Fold. Why would the phone be that thick at the portion where it folds if it wasn't for avoiding the crease?

it may take over 200,000 folds in perfect lab conditions, where the opening and closing is at the perfect angle and even pressure.
i can already remember the flip phones tending to have a certain corner or edge that they get opened from and not exactly even pressure.
did they build a machine to open if from different points/angles to test that open count? ( i would estimate 50k max before it breaks if you are a clumsy opener)

Walter C. Dornez, 28 Mar 2019As it will be for all foldable phones, not just the Fold. A... moreAgree to a large part, but foldable glass is too optimistic.
There are no known materials that are flexible AND hard. And for obvious reasons it should be transparent too...
It is the same reason that we EITHER have a scratch-proof surface that shatters easily (think tempered glass protectors) OR a scratch prone surface, that is elastic. (think film protectors).
That is why the combination of an elastic screen and a cheap tempered glass protector is the best for standard screens, as we just have to change the protector to a few £ every time it breaks (substantially), and have an undamaged display afterwards.

Fayth, 28 Mar 2019if the centre crease is like a folded paper, I think its okayI hope you are right, but IF it was not substantially deteriorated, I'm sure they would have shown it...

A nice phone - too fat and weights too much to be popular as normal phone, too small to be a good tablet. Perfect for "i want everything in it, but i will use none of it" type of people.

Price goes down when the tech get old. Not even that long to wait. 1 year is enough for it to be considered old. Like vivo x20 plus UD that was released as the first in display fingerprint phone last year. Foldable will be dirt cheap next year.
