nick, 06 Jan 2012with this, ios devices might finally be able to keep up wit... moreWhat you mean by that? iOS devices are already fastest phones out there, android don't even fully support dual cores before 4.0.

iOS is much better optimized than android so iOS devices are always going to be more powerful than android phones.

z, 06 Jan 2012i dont really see the point of 4 cores.... You might when a given task needs less processing power from the chip and thus gives you longer battery life.

It's not for the iPhone (at least for now), it's more likely for the iPad, or the next AppleTV (and also very likely for that Apple TV set that is rumored to come out this year). It's is EXTREMELY unlikely that Apple uses a quadcore CPU in the iPhone 5, they're not that stupid. A quadcore is draining the already short battery life of modern smartphones even more, while on the other side the ressources (especially RAM, memory bandwidth and GPU performance) required to make use of a quadcore processor just aren't there.

But since iOS is not just for the iPhone but for other devices as well, it's logical that Apple is implementing multicore support.

They will put quad-core (in iphone 5), couse they bought C3 techologies for making billiant 3D maps (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSmunh6NIQI). Maps cant run fast without power processors...
I guess that Iphone 5 will have 128GB memory (couse maps)

If they can optimize software and battery life for quad-cores I personally would buy it and probably it would kick ass of competition,it would be normal in my opinion for apple to lunch the next high spec phones since 4s tho It's good came out late for 2xcore competition but then again the sells were sky high and again in my believe with them it's all about money.so I believe apple should make the move and lunch the quad core with 1-2gb ram and it would be for sure a new flagship and orientation point world wide

ok call me stupid. but shouldnt it say. cores 4. for a quad. or is my maths not right. but having said. this is quite concrete proof of a quad core iphone.

i think the world needs more convincing than a few numbers alledging to be an iphone.

if the battery technology didn't change, a quad-core will be a hinder not an advancement

What good are quad-core phones if battery technology stays the same? And in any case, more power will just mean that developers are allowed to write less optimized software on less optimized APIs released by the manufacturers.

Best Android is the Galaxy Nexus, its the most updated but I think its either the RAZR or S2 that are the best phones out on android at the moment. The Nexus is the most updated phone because it has ICS thats all.
