The Echo Show unlike the iPad is not intended to be used as a tablet. It is essentially a smart video/audio device with a hub built in and meant for voice control of devices in a smart home. Because it has a hub built in, it can connect directly to devices that use the Zigbee protocol and of course to wifi devices as well by enabling skills in the echo eco system. Many devices may not have skills available in India yet so that is a limitation certainly. An example is the wonderful Sonos One speaker which cannot connect to an Echo device in India because the company has yet to provide the skill in India.
Video calling using Skype through the Echo Show is a wonderful experience as is seeing movies streamed through the Amazon Prime collection.

Why anyone would spend that kinda money for an echo show with limited functionality rather than spending it on an iPad is beyond me. An iPad would cost the same but do loads more. And if you need good speakers, you can always get a good pair of bluetooth ones for very little money.

its fixed viewing angle, and 720p resolution looks like a deal breaker to me.
