Huawei P30 in for review

Even without the x5 optical zoom the P30 is among the 10 best camera phones ever built.
I needed a new phone and was looking for something "compact" and with a flat screen.
I had to choose between the P30 and Samsung 10e. The P30 was 50$ cheaper and bundled with a the new Huawei watch so I went for this deal.

I know that P30 is deprived from a few things that P30 Pro has, ex. piezoelectric sound system, wireless charging, OIS in main camera, a little bit worst ultrawide camera and no periscope zoom camera, however P30 has also many advantages (ex. compact size, flat screen with higher ppi density, audio jack) and it is still a flagship device with one of the best design, camera and performance.

But anyways, I agree with you. I think 5.8 inch screen in S10e is compact from today's standards.

Hi,
What does "vanilla Huawei flagship" means here? I am familiar with Vanilla android = Stock Android .. so is it running a Stock Android? Specs page says it has EMUI 9.1.

I find it's quite inconsistent in shooting, more than my old P10. It tries to do some kind of HDR out of every photo and they end up looking unnatural and really lacking contrast. The only way to avoid this processing is to shoot in Pro mode or to switch the resolution to 40MP.
But even in Pro mode, things are not perfect: there are situations where the skin looks terribly oversharpened, for example. Also the differences in colour are too big between the main camera and the telephoto one. I get a yellowish skin tone with the main one and totally purple skin with the telephoto. Really hope they fix all this mess with an update.

im surprised people are still complaining 6 inchers not being compact enough- if you account for the bezels of the old to the almost bezelless of the new you'll find that some of these 6 inchers are actually smaller or more "compact" than some of the "compacts" of the old.

to pricey phone. i can buy motorcycle here in our country with its price already and motorcycle can be use over and over again but phones that prices are on $900 and up that is serious money already phone can be replace after a couple of months because there will be a new phone to be release again.

They have increased the base price from 440 euros to 600-640 euros, but removed the OIS in the main camera. Added the audio jack but forgot enable the FM radio in the chipset. Looking elsewhere for other alternatives.
