Yeah, except all those apps which are 5 years old are constantly updated, thats why they are so popular even for 5 years old ones, making them more new and fresh :)

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2019Problem is... people Are not ready to buy $80 mobile games,... moreYou could think of micropayments a bit like using a cab over renting/leasing/buying a car. Each has its benefits.

It could also fit other kind of apps than games. An app that some might want to use daily, other occasionally and some only a few times a year. And all would pay a fair amount related to how much they actually use it.

The OPTIMAL for us as users would by micropayments with ceilings. And when the ceiling is reached, then it is free (totally or for the rest of some period). You could think of it as in-app buys in instalments only paid if used.
But of course that would come at a higher rate than without the ceiling for the developer to make a similar profit. And thus be more expensive for the infrequent users

Mr. Feng's a real genious huh?

Most of these apps work as intended and their content has been around long before they've become applications. Also have multiple copyrights, laws protecting them, so identical ones wouldn't appear like mushrooms after rain.

I never understood the point of these kinds of "researches".
People buy food brands dating back hundreds of years, but buy the products fresh.
                                Feng research right there.

We download? You mean preinstalled like Google Maps. Facebook and Instagram sometimes preinstalled too.

"must-have Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, Spotify"
All of which I of course have purged from my phone.
                                      "Must have"... get a life....

most mobile games have become exceedingly hard to catch up to new content, and time-limited units/items come and go which also shifts the metagame around. I personally played Asphalt 9 and if you're interested in that game and want to truly invest in it: don't.
The game requires you to not just unlock a certain car, but also needs you to fully upgrade it, benefiting early adopters like me while noobs don't stand a change. Most players simply quit and looked for greener pastures, and thus explains the trend.
