Samsung expects to rob Nokia of top maker title this year

10 January, 2012
They've already outsold the Finnish company in the smartphone market, but want to win in overall sales too.

kids here talking rubbish... listen up see how many people walk around with samsung now compared to nokia? well in australia SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 is the most dominant!! and nokia is for old people like nokia 1616... so this statistics are highly likely to be true and u guys dont know what nokia is truely made up of...
nokias hardware is made by samsung (n9 gpu and cpu) screen is made up by amoled screen / super amoled (samsung screen) so everyone shut up and admit samsung is going to be the largest mobilephone industry in the world

[deleted post]Lets put the facts together...
    1. Nokia is starting with AT&T with smartphones.. even a dismal show of those will create extra sales, since nokia does not sell anything in US with operator tie-up currently....
    2. In India and China, which are the world's largest and fastest growing markets, Nokia has a very solid footprint... sales can at-most stagnate, cannot go down...
    3. Samsung which has refused to update their mobiles(SG1 and others) are getting negative feedbacks..when Nokia with N8 is still pushing updates(started with Sym^3, now Anna, very soon Belle and down the line with Carla)...SE is going for ICS for their entire XPERIA lineup, MOTO is also going for all.
    4. N8 is the greatest sales phone by Nokia in recent times, and with the N8 successor coming, that will only improve sales.
    5. Google taking on Motorola Mobility and Moto's introduction of RAZR and DRIOD 4 will boost sales very much, since Moto has a very high reputation.

People were buying Samsung phones because there was no better alternatives available in the Android Arena.. SE couldn't match up, HTC had a very small niche, Moto was nowhere. Now all these companies, Sony, Moto and HTC are getting better devices lined up. So chances of Samsung to make the sales up is quite a challenge, leave alone overtaking Nokia......

Its easy to climb, its tough to stay there. Samsung will certainly jump to the top slot one day or the other. But dont expect them to stick there for even quarter as long as nokia has done. Samsung's support strategies (esp after its own progeny bada) will pull it down sooner than later.

AnonD-6505, 11 Jan 2012Samsung is only alive with Andorid! Samsung+Android= leade... moreWhat is this?

          Your little dreambox?

All you wrote might be right, but it aint reality and without that, it is completely worthless.

Nokia might do this, Nokia might do that...
But they didnt and dont and want to stick to WP7, get it?

Nice things, but if Nokia doesnt do it, why stick to them and hoping in the next years it will be better...

If they bring out a good phone, I will get it, if not, then I wont get it, why stick to just a company, I want my phone to be good and up to date (not talking about updates, about functionality).

          So many children here...

              People, people, people...

Nokia is a great company, but they where successful with their featurephones and never really with their smartphones, at least the past 4 years. Why dont people just accept, that things change. Nokie was good in the cell phone biz, but now it has to sell something, that it never really sold before: COMPUTERS in small. They were great, doesnt mean, they will be forever. Take the console market for example. Back in the days SEGA was the biggest competitor of Nintendo and nobody thought of anything else... Now look at Sega, just producing games.

What I am trying to say is, thats not how the world works. Nokia can come back, but they also can completely disappear, what happend in the past, stays there, there is no magic, that will bring them back... If they want to come back, they need to work hard and simply be the best.

Everyone holding on to past stories of Nokia... Who cares what they did, they are in a bad position right now and the the past aint helping them out right now, get it?

Nokia officially died after they tried to fool the world by releasing an outdated N97 phone back in 2009. Its been downhill since then

Samsung should be able to finish this job easy, with loads of Symbian users switching to Android, as Symbian an Android are easily the same but Symbian an Windows is Miles apart, after using a Nokia symbian phone an want to able to do the same with your next phone Android is the Best choice, because you can do the same with it,customize how the phone looks an use Bluetooth for sending an Recieving data between phones an put your micro sd card you had in your Symbian phone, then with Windows you are not able to do any of these Functions,an thats Why?Mr Elop an Nokia chose the wrong eco system,an all Mr Elop was bothered about was Microsoft not Nokia,as he use to be employed by them,an since then the Decline of Nokia as got to Mr Elops choices,i had the N8 an Nokia delayed belle thinking people would get feed up waiting for the update an switch to Windows but its to Restricted an so glad i switched to the Samsung Galaxy S2 instead of the Restricted Lumia 800 an loads will have done the same,Samsung singing to Nokia "Simply The Best Better Than All The Rest"

if Nokia use android OS, Samsung will loss Smart phone market in a minute.. But Nokia has some donkey headed people in their top level who don't know whats call android and whats the customer need right now. they just go for ugly Microsoft OS.

I'd like to think I'm fairly vendor agnostic, unlike
many of the semi literate people that comment on this site.

Having owned both Samsung and Nokia handsets over the years - currently using the N900 until I upgrade next month -
I'd have to say on balance, when it comes to handset build quality Nokia have generally come out on top.

Being a techie the N900 was the perfect device, albeit not without its faults - so certainly a handset I will keep using as a second device.

Looking ahead,my inclination is towards an Android device purely due to the huge number of apps available which is vital when I'll be using it primarily for business and won't have time to root / re-code / hack the thing -- it just needs to work.
Hardware specs aside, I don't think a windows o/s device will currently cut it on that front.

Samsung just came in , spoiled the entire mobile phone market.... nobody talks about quality materials now......
I would like the old war-horses to get back in the game... Nokia and Moto. With Google getting over Moto, and Nokia stepping on the gas, the good old times are sure to return..... Will miss Sony Ericsson surely since Sony is not capable enough. Apple will be here to stay for their niche of users.....
Time-up for the crappy Sammy phones......
