Nokia 9 PureView is launching in China this week, but it costs more than usual

15 April 2019
You'd think that HMD put together a version with more RAM and storage (which the local market loves) to justify the price hike but no.

And actually, saving the RAW files takes longer then usual, proccessing the photo without raw takes a normal time for a pureview device, 1 to max 3 seconds. And those are not noticed cause they work in the background.

Slinke, 16 Apr 2019Wow, they already have been forced to increase the price du... moreFailed phone? Any proof?

USD820?!?! Damn that is one expensive smartphone, especially when u consider the fact that it packs a SNAPDRAGON 845 from 2018. Besides, even high-end flagships released this year such as the GALAXY S10e costs slightly cheaper than the NOKIA 9 PureView in China, and it gives an experience that will most probably satisfy the user more as to what NOKIA (or HMD Global to be exact) has to offer. I'm sure most people out there will most probably go the route of buying something like the GALAXY S10e OR a high-end flagship from 2018, as they've dropped a lot in terms of pricing ever since the 2019 ones were announced. I guess this is the aftereffect of inflation?

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2019What matters isn't just the photo quality or the number of ... moreIt's not that bad too. If you don't rely on social media heavily, you can just frap a couple of shots then continue to enjoy the real thing rather than looking at your phone. The evening when you sort your shoot, you have plenty of time to edit them.
I would say it's a niche market, but because it doesn't please the mass doesn't mean it's futile or useless. It would be far better if more product of this kind could exist, but well, the market is just a b*tch for those that doesn't have the same taste than others.

I dislike more the round screen corner than the 10 sec process time. I really find those ugly and completely useless since there are bezels. And the lack of notification led, a joke too.

skeith, 16 Apr 2019This is real camera set up & photo quality is more real... moreWhat matters isn't just the photo quality or the number of companies which participated in the making.
In the end it's actual user experience.

Making a phone that takes minutes/hours to process photos is like making the most advanced race car, with cutting edge technology, but turns out it needs a few hours to start the engine.

This is good as a concept phone to start developing such technology, not an actual product.

Competition is the best thing for any consumer. Plus, no one HAVE to buy those phone, but they inded bring something new to the market, Something the other brands will use either to avoid the same mistake, either to copy the good. In all case this phone is a win for consumer, simply because it's different.

Wow, they already have been forced to increase the price due to the low sales. So, at least, the four fans that buy it there pay the mistake of HMD-Nokia. It's an already a failed phone, not practical and a sink of wasted money only profitable for Light that at least sold its chips to HMD.

Blaming the reality and trying to silence people will not work. The countdown already started, the second collapse is upcoming.

Nokia 9 PureView is an unique device. It’s the first phone on the market featuring five cameras on the back, that are a result of collaboration between multiple companies, including HMD Global, Light, FIH Mobile, ZEISS, Google, and Qualcomm. The 9 PureView brings a new way of taking photos on the smartphone market, just like its namesake the Nokia 808 Pureview.
The basic principle on which Nokia 9 works is that the device utilizes all five cameras at the same time. All the other phones on the market can work only with two camera feeds at the same time.On the other hand, Nokia 9 has five cameras that simultaneously send data to the image processing system, which couldn’t be possible without Light and their dedicated camera hardware. Snapdragon 845’s ISP supports only two camera feeds at the same time, so Light’s hardware takes all the five feeds and makes them ready for further processing. Light has a patented solution for handling that amount of data, that is sent via a pipeline that basically prepares the data for the ISP. But not only ISP – HMD worked with Qualcomm to make the most of the Snapdragon chipset, so image processing takes place also on the DSP and GPU, as well. HMD claims that sharing the workload is more power efficient.

Nobody will buy it anyway, Nokia arent sell so good as many people think, more 2 or 3 years and they are done for good.

Shame on Those who are behind Nokia.

                                    Go home HMD you're drunk!
