i actually use galaxy tab with 1ghz cpu and 512mb ram, however the issue is not with the hardware, but with the OS itself, yes some apps will keep on running in the background like a torrent client, messenger like skype or viber, or playing audio files, but otherwise other apps will close if u leave them for more than 10-20 secs,,, i remember my brothers nokia 5800 needed rebooting when i opened 3 apps (including skyfire browser) but maybe that was duo to the tiny 128mb ram it had,, so wonder how things are with 512mb ram in the newer devices like 701,, man how can nokia managers be so idiotic to dumb an amazing OS like meego!

I have been using Belle for about 2 months now on my C7. It has restored my faith in Nokia to the point I no longer look towards any other OS or brand. Belle is worth the wait because it works seamlessly and improves the phone a lot. In fact all the people I've shown Belle have also been impressed even going as far as purchasing a Nokia. I hope that Nokia will continue developing Symbian over 2 fronts, but simplifying its usability and increasing the hardware's capacity since Symbian remains thrifty and low on resources, and 2, and really this is where the improvement is needed too, in the Apps department, some of which are clumsy and best suited for kids. Once done, I can see Nokia regaining a good part of its market share. Belle is great.

AnonD-16334, 18 Jan 2012who said symbian has true multitasking.you may not have see... moreYou obviously spend alot of time away from technology. Androids have such high rams bcuz the android OS itself is heavy and requires more ram 2 run, same thing goes for iOS. Symbian is really light on ram. Further more NOBODY will believe that you have owned almost every symbian mobile hahahaha I laughed out loud @ that part. Who do u expect 2 blieve you owned or even used everything from the Nseries, Xseries, Eseries, Cseries and all the symbians outside these families??? Get a life bro smfh...

That's good news. I've been a nokia fan for years and still am but recently switched to android. Wish nokia did this earlier, improved their market, which was the best i those days or produced android phones. If there's one manufacturer that I trust to make android work perfectly with their hardware, it's nokia. I haven't been bowled over by their windows phones either... I still think they produce the best hardware and there's lots of stuff that my old nokia did just great.
Too little, too late. Unfortunate. On a side note, if nokia produces an android, I'll pick it up in a jiffy. The best hardware with the most versatile software...

I'll wait for the Belle update for my E6, before upgrade it next Q2 into perhaps Lumia 900. Symbian still the best until today, they have very stable and efficient both in memory usage and power. I am still waiting possibility whatsapp + bloomberg mobile application for N9 if not, maybe I'll buy Lumia 900 or wait for next gen Symbian device that will replacing N8.

I am using N701 running on belle for about 6 weeks. The only thing missing is auto focus on otherwise superb camera.
I get a feeling, if Nokia does market it well and bring Belle on a phone with N9 / Lumia 800 chasis design. It will be top selling phone of the year.

[deleted post]Use Belle first, then make a judgement. It's better than Gingetbread especially since you can change all the icons with themes, the home screens don't hit a wall at one end then the other, and you may have different wallpaper for all screens. Those things, Symbian^3 has always done. Nokia Suite trump anything from Android manufactures and Google Maps blows compared to Ovi. My N8 still owns all other cameras in the business and my N8 doesn't have a daily regime of crashing. If you are an iPhone user, nevermind what I've said. Because no one could tell you anything bit Steve Jobs

You bloody nokia management just look at the no of comments posted at gsm arena's news about belle update for old symbian^3 and anna devices. In short time too many responses. Huge followers still there for symbian. Whether they like or dislike it, there is tremendous amount of interest in symbian. Particularly desperation from android fanboys not to see symbian should not come back if android want to dominate. But who knows after two years what will happen? Nokia management please wake up and change the strategy to need of people instead of blind focus on windows phone. If user experience is really good then why should not look back?

Cod3rror, 18 Jan 2012Those of you that say Symbian has a real multitasking, I ha... moreWhy are you saying that you can do it on the iPhone, I have an iPhone 4 (got it as a present) and tried playing a movie and using "Backgrounder" to let it minimise and work on the background and it didn't work, I tried using "MyFile" and "Youtube", and if it doesn't work with "Backgrounder" it surely won't work without it, and I'm intrested in Nokia more than my iPhone (Nokia E72 at the time being and soon E6), if you're really saying the truth, prove it somehow. Even though as many mentioned here that it's a disadvantage since you want to continue watching where you from where you where when coming back to the movie player.

Android is the new 'dumb phone' os in my opinion. You can buy a android phone for around £50 now. If we didnt have ios and symbian ect. there would be no alternative everyone would be stuck with the same os.
I like android its very nice but when i need to get work done it doesnt compare to symbian at-all! Another point why does a phone need a dual core processor? to run a mobile os?

Can't wait to see how my phone behaves on belle.
these are the sort of updates that, if they came earlier, would have kept Nokia in the running with Symbian till Meego took off.
